old kayak-what to do?

(1/3) > >>

Carla!:
We have this old fiberclass kayak lying in my garage for the last few(many) years and my mum was getting on to do something about it.

So I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what I could do with it. I dont know what condition its in or whether it floats (doesn't look too bad at a quick glance but i will give it closer inspection tomorrow to find out).

So what can I do with it? Do people buy this kind of thing or use it for parts? (Can you use fiberglass for parts?) Or is it of any use fixing it up (even though I can't see anyone in my family using it that much) Or would UCD benefit if I donated it to the boathouse.

Thanks
Carla

Matt Flood:
What type of Kayak is it??? If it's a racer of any sort it may be worth keeping in the club for varsities.... :)

Bill C:
I it's glass fibre it's fixable (up to a certain point where there's more hole than boat).

Eoghan:
I imagine any fibre glass boat will be faster than the majority of the clubs boats - so if you're looking for a new home the club would be happy to take it (we'd have to check it has a chance of being repaired).

Otherwise there is always the option of taking a hammer to it and, as you said, sell it in parts  ;) (don't do this option.. :) )

Bill C:
Flower pot.
