I'd really rather not miss a lecture unless I absolutely have to. But I also have practicals until one. I figured I'd miss polo anyway, because it's a very late single match after the course.

Ross

If I skip my 2 o'clock I'm finished at 11 o'clock

HelenaC

i have a 2-4 that id rather not miss coz ill miss it for varsities and you have to sign in (and i need it for pwe next year....)

Karen

Right, here's the dealio,

The course has to be 24 hours. the sports centre (the only building on campus open on Sunday) is only open 10-5.30 on weekends. Which is 15 hours, so we actually need to get 9 hours in on Friday. So I think we will have to start at 9am and go until 6pm (or if we start at 11am-8pm)

Unless anyone has any other ideas about a location I think we have pretty much no other choices.

Nuala

(You might be better off calling it 14 hours over the weekend to allow for a lunch break, but if we are that tight for time I'm sure we'll manage)

If you have practicals you have to get to see if there are other weeks/times you can swap into - lecturers will frequently make allowances if you have a good reason.

I'll see if there is anywhere else around that we might be able to use, but as it stands we have a time, place and instructor all booked.

DervM

They probably won't like making allowances for us twice in the next 4 weeks though. What with varsities coming up.

Nuala

Unless you are on the varsities polo team you won't need to reschedule anything - the bus normally leaves around five or six, polo team goes early. So if everyone wants to do polo for varsities, that's grand, we'll be having a look for somewhere more flexible on times anyway. But we might not find anywhere.

Garbhan

I will do everything to see if I can change my practical time as I can't miss it as it counts for my final grade. I will get back to you before 4pm tomorrow. If i am able to re seclude it I can start at 11am like you have suggested.

Matt

I've been told today that it's possible to get the Sports Centre open earlier than 10am, at a cost of €50 per hour, so if we ran it from 8am-5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, which would make up 19 hours, so we would have to do 5 hours on the Friday.

The Sports Centre is open until 10pm on Friday, so an option could be to do 3-8 Friday, 8-5.30 Saturday and Sunday, at an extra cost of €200 to get the Centre open. Any chance the club could cover that cost?

What do people think of that?

Bogger

I've a REC 2, and I'd like to do this course. I probably could get us the use of my Scout Den  for the weekend for say €50, available all day Fri - Sun or just Sat & Sunday. I may also find some scout leaders who might want to atend to bring the cost down more...

What's the price looking like at the mo?

Contact the safety office, they can be helpful in booking courses like this.

Stephen.M

I'm willing to skip my lectures on Friday and start the course at 9am

Karen

Hi, Ger, unless someone drops out there is unfortunately no space, it's limited to 12.
