Ross:
Definitely interested in the freestyle training stuff especially. What is the significance of ranked marathon races versus non-ranked?

kmck:
Remind me to send you on BOB's contact details from the Canoe Ireland executive, he's big on developing marathon.

Douchier:
@Ross: When you compete a ranking competition you get a certain number of points depending on how you do. At the end of the year these points are added up. The top paddlers in a division get a prize and the competing clubs are ranked, which looks like this

@kieran: He's the chairperson of the marathon committee isn't he? You know him well?

Ross:
Wow. Looks like we have some catching up to do.

Nuala:
Well that score was based on one race Niall, Karen and Matt entered over the summer (and maybe varsities last year, not sure, ask Niall).
The hope would be that a few people in even a few races and our ranking would rise like a toddler's helium balloon released from its restraints.
