Hey Guys,

Sorry about the delay; partially busy, partially waiting to see how other stuff panned out.

There's going to be two training sessions for two different groups.
One this weekend - Sunday 11Nov
One in a few weeks - Sunday 02Dec

EDIT: Cost staying at €15
- if anyone really wants to go on both and this meant that it would go up to eight, then the price would drop - I might do this myself)

The group breakdown doesn't matter hugely for these as they're both fairly near an both quite firm dates.
So if I put you on a date that you can't make or would really like to go on the other date then let me know.
The first group has the people who aren't from Dublin, in case they want to go home for study-week and also to give some others a chance to recover.

Provisionally all good for the 2nd - though it will depend on my head being better by then !  ;D

Douchier

Correction - cost staying at €15, plus whatever petrol money you have to pay to drivers.

Info on the day from Ronnie (easier to just quote the email)

Quote from: Ronnie
    * Kit/outfitting discussion.
    * Brief bit on body position and paddling technique
    * Warm-up techniques both on bank and on water
    * Few quick flat water drills.
    * Catching the feature
    * Feature awareness
    * Carving/how to manoeuvre yourself around the feature
    * Rolling in the feature
    * Feature recovery
    * TRICKS :-D!!!
That's not a hard and fast schedule it can be changed as needed but that's generally the model I follow and usually helps people get the most from days like these.  There's a big emphasis on the basics here but generally should power through them fast enough.

Another thing that he talked about was conditions - stay warm

Wear all of the thermals that you own! Bring extra fleeces, pogies, leg-wear...anything! If it would help you to borrow stuff then do.

Put a fleecy hat on under your helmet

Put a latex swim-hat under your fleecy hat - latex swim-hats are great, they really help the brain-freeze.

Ear-plugs?

Bring a flask of sugary warm stuff, just for yourself.

bring lots of food.

Smile.

Ronnie will be there in a coaching capacity. He'll be there to impart knowledge, analyse your paddling and point you in the right direction - helping you to understand everything that you're doing.
Listen carefully, he knows what he's on about.

If someone happens to swim, we pick 'em up.
Be on the ball and look  out for one another.

This is a really great chance. Personally, I CAN'T WAIT!

(ps. sorry if I made all of that seem scary)

Oh you.

We'll make river-scum out of you yet!

Maryanne

I plan on being definitely 100% better in time for the 2nd of December.

So this gives us 3 solid weeks of lording our new shit hot freestyle skills over the people doing it on the 2nd. Better make them count.

It would be great if everyone who's going on Sunday could be at the pool today.

I know this might sound weird but we should do some work on rolling. Get a few people and all
try and perfect our rolls, speed them up and maybe pick up a few new ones. Rolling is one of those fundamental things that you can never do too well.

I can assure you that a quicker roll is something that you're really going to appreciate come Sunday

BRAINFREEZE

It's also after a long day, especially if it's cold that you start to get lax, so a bit of tweaking today could make the difference of a swim at the weekend.

Let's BOMB-PROOF those rolls.

Bill C

Wear swim hats on Sunday. Don't think, just do it. Stop thinking!

I don't use one cause I've a massive head but I bought an earwig nearly seven years ago still in good working order even after only been used for cold freshers on rivers.

Chunderdragon

who exactly is driving on sunday and how many spaces have we got. apparantly im not allowed drive cus those roofracks are too dodgy so i'll be needing space!
