Wacko on the Jacko - 9-10th March
« on: February 19, 2013, 16:36:26 »
Hey guys, I got this email:

Quote
Hi guys,

Just informing people that the Wacko On The Jacko event will be going
ahead again this year in conjunction with Colaiste Dhulaigh and Total
Experience. The event will be a part of the Irish Whitewater League.
Here's a link to the facebook page with all the information  if you
could pass on the info to club members it would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan Hawes

Check it out!
Wacko on the Jacko, 9th and 10th of March 2013
It'd be great to see a bunch of UCDCC paddlers representing the club and gaining competition experience!
Photos of the event and a blog post would also be excellent.

PS We will still need some rescue for the club trip on the 9th, let us know who's going asap so we can figure that out.

Interested in representing UCD:
Diarmuid Ryan
Derv McAuley
Cillian Totterdell
Cormac Roche

So who's going from UCD? (Or planning on going)

If it runs can somebody:
- take/get photos
- write a short blog post
- announce results on the forum and facebook

If it's cancelled:
- Saturday sign up is closed and the bus will be full (largest group of 1st years in a long time)
- more rescue is needed
- you could drive to the Liffey (potentially go to sluice early) and then practice rescue on the club trip

Here's the link to the sign up thread anyway
http://forum.ucdcanoeclub.com/index.php/topic,11369.0.html

There's a list of people (Cormac and Karen so far) who are signed up for if Wacko doesn't run.
It'd be helpful of more people could do that in case it's cancelled so we know who to expect.

*Bump*

Did anyone who attended the event send the results to UCD Sport?
Here's the link to their facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/ucdsport?fref=ts

If someone could put together any or some of the following:
- just the results
- a brief account of the day
- a description of the competition

and at least one photo (but the more the merrier).

They said that they'll put up any of our news, even if it happened a while ago. They said that if we preferred to use our own blog to put up news that thats fine, and to just send them a link to the article and they'll put it up on their page. They said photos are the best thing and some text around them is cool. They're also interested in videos we have. Wasn't there a video of the event? Whoever writes it could send that too.

The club did amazingly and UCD should definitely know about it, so can someone who was there cash in on their personal experience for the benefit of the club and write something? You get to be famous too.
