Maryanne has pretty much covered all the bases but theres one or two things I'd like to add for whoever will be in my group whether it's trainees, rescue or level 2 or 3s.

1. Trainee Instructors: Make a plan if you have a few minutes today.
What you want to do. Where you want to do it. What your goals are.
You don't have to write it but I find it really structures my thoughts and my session when I do. (You dont have to say"what next..."). I usually write down all of the features and flat strecches between them and what I plan to do on each. Don't worry too much about it if it doesn't go the way you hoped be flexible and enjoy yourself.

2. Rescue Read over Maryanne's post about rescue if you get a chance. Think in advance about what your going to do for rescue so your being proactive rather reactive. Anticipate where people may capsise, where they may swim and where you want to get people and gear afterwards. Then position yourself accordingly so you can maintain as much lateral momentum as poossible rather than stop start.

Experiment. If you have an idea or a suggestion throw it out there, give it a try. There's lots of ways of tweaking recue setup to suit yourselves.

Work as a team. As the rescue crew, think about working together rather than as individuals to carry out rescue.

Enjoy it. :D

3 Level 2 and Level 3 people Look at the links Maryanne posted to the sylibi. If there's anything your unsure of or want to work on tell us in the morning.

Have fun and try everything. Dont worry too much about the stress of getting everything right, if your getting stuck in and enjoying the river your probably styling it.

Ask questions we cant help if we dont know theres a problem :D

Peace out everyone see you tomorrow,
Dave.

Like.

I mean there isn't a like button and it seems a bit sad to use it on the message board...but how else do I express agreement with/approval of Dave's comment without actually wanting to put any effort into my response.
hmm...

Hey guys,

The feedback about how everyone in the L2 and L3 groups got on was really positive, well done everyone!
One thing that was mentioned was that since it was cold we didn't go through x-rescues or capsize drills, so make sure to practice them in the pool!
As well as anything else that requires capsizing or time in the water (eg roll).
