Junior Paddlefest
« on: July 02, 2013, 13:16:57 »
Junior Paddlefest has all the makings of a great event. If it's anything like Paddlefest in Kilkenny it will be unreal criac! From what I can see there's no maximum age, but a minimum age for some workshops but everyone in the club will qualify for it. It's on 21-22nd of September.

Here's the application form for anyone who's interested; http://juniorpaddlefest.weebly.com/uploads/2/0/7/4/20746448/booking_form.pdf

Hi Marie,

not sure if they changed it this year but I've been to this since the year it started running. The oldest participant is usually around 16. Its called junior paddlefest because its just for juniors I think! I was always at is as an instructor rather than a participant... They run some courses for adults but they're usually introductory style sessions.

I'd say I'll head down as an instructor this year and afaik you dont have to have a qualification to instruct for the weekend so you could get a few heads together for that, but as far as participating goes I think this one is for the kiddies!

yeah, the poster definitely suggests that from the picture etc. But when I looked at the entry form it didn't give a maximum age...well from what I could see anyway, but maybe I missed something.

Well juniors are only under 18 in Canoeing Ireland. And generally considered to be the under 16 age group for most competitions they're affiliated with. So it makes sense  :).
