Who is going to Wacko this year? I am considering going.

What are the boat restrictions, couldn't find them on line.

Whats the club's gear hiring policy for Wacko?

Matt

Yep! Myself, Karen and Nuala are going. Dunno what the boat restrictions are...

But there are definitely l4 instructors at Wacko...

Confirmed, Sickline rules. Limit is 275cm, mass production creekers and whitewater boats only.

Constitution was changed last year, rule was relaxed about club gear on grade 4.

It'd want to have been, given the Java that went down there after Deividas's shoulder went earlier this year.

Anyway Peter, beside the point. What club boat would you want to take down there?

kmck

T-canyon...otherwise known as the big green  ^-^

Something fast, maybe fibreglass if the levels were right.

DervM

The fibreglass boats are for sure over the length limit.

^They won't be by the time you get to the finish-line!

Derv, you mentioned some sport category of the event last night at the meeting? I can't find anything about it on the race page, whats the story with it?

There are a couple of categories that run in the WW race league. In Galwayfest and Wacko they tend to have four main categories: Women's Expert, Men's Expert, Men's Sport, and Women's Sport. The Sport categories are for your first few races in the league (I've been told for only your first race).

Sport is a great category; it's smaller, you're more likely to place in it, and everyone loves to see people starting out in Sport. Sometimes they offer to allow people in the category to have a shadow if they want it or feel they need it.

However, you normally race totally alone. In Wacko there are only two places with rescue - Trooperstown and Jacksons. So you're solo between those.

Best thing to do is to get onto Niamh Cleary and tell her the level you're at and ask what she thinks and then she'll send you on a form  :).
