Long Distance and Freestyle Training 8/2/14
« on: February 03, 2014, 20:44:37 »
Ok guys! This weekend we're going to get busy! :)

As ye all should know by now, Varsities is coming up quick and so this means we need to get going on our training!

This Saturday out trip will be to the Liffey, with the plan to stay in the sluice/Lucan area :)

Freestyle:
This will involve training with the aim of holding trials in the next while. Anyone is welcome to take part as long as
1) you have a solid roll
and
2) you have access to a freestyle boat for both the training day and trials and Varsities (if you want to compete) there aren't any club boats suitable for this unfortunately

This will happen at Sluice and we'll hopefully have someone in to do the coaching! :)

Long Distance:
This is an area where everyone from freshers right up has a chance to do great! We're allowed to enter as many as we want to this class so we hope to see everyone out on the water this weekend getting used to the boats they they'll be competing in! :)

We'll have all the long boats out for you to try out and get outfitted to fit you perfectly! :)

This will be happening on the area of water between sluice and the Lucan weir and we'll hope to have a coach down to show you all how to get the most (distance) out of your paddling! :)

So sign up here!

Long Distance:

What's happened to the clubs g-rides? I have the vertigo, as seen in the world championship 1997

What's happened to the clubs g-rides?

Only one listed in the club inventory. Its valued at 45euro and sounds like its in very poor condition. I haven't actually seen it to confirm its existence or condition.

I don't think the club has a G-Ride?

We have some G-Forces and people are welcome to use them but they're hardly competition boats!

If anyone's using the Gola then please, please do not put the footpegs up to the position that they were put in last year. They're not meant to go up that far and it locks them into that spot. Myself and Ross got fibreglass cuts all down our arms the night before the Liffey Descent last year, I had to climb into the boat and remove the footblocks and it still took an hour after that.

Also please don't take any of the foam padding out of it. It's valuable outfitting.

By the way, I will not attend Varsities, so in case there's not enough boats I don't want to take any spots from people who will go... I'm just doing this for interest / paddle time ;)
