Deirdre Conroy & James Boylan Memorial Trophies

Hi all,

It's that time of year again! On Saturday 29th March the club will host our annual awards night. The venue will be  the Upstairs of The Clubhouse Bar in the UCD Student Centre. We'll be opening up at 1900 but people are welcome to arrive early to the main bar downstairs!

The two awards on offer are the Deirdre Conroy Perpetual Trophy (Dee Cup) and the James Boylan Cup (Fresher of the Year). This is the 20th Fresher of the Year and the 6th Dee Cup.
I would like to extend a warm invite to all past and present members of the club to attend if you have not already been invited via facebook or other social media!

The Deirdre Conroy Perpetual Trophy
"The Deirdre Conroy Perpetual Trophy was presented to the club by Dee's family to both ensure she is fittingly remembered but also to recognise the individual who best represents the fine qualities she embodied. Each year a club member is awarded with this trophy in acknowledgement of how that individual partied hard, kayaked harder and actively enlivened the club with their positive, vibrant and fun loving personality." ~Simon Rowan

The James Boylan Cup
The James Boylan Cup is presented to the "Fresher of the Year" someone who gave their all to the club throughout the year, someone who took what the club had to offer and asked for more. This is the fresher who's face it was unusual not to see at a club event, who's contributions during their year in the club improved the experience of those around them and someone who we expect to go on and contribute immeasurably the future of the club as James did.

Awarding of the trophies
In previous years the choosing of just one winner for these awards has proven to be very difficult as there is such an amazing group of individuals in the club at the moment.
The winner of the James Boylan Cup will be chosen by this years Committee as a whole.
The Dee Cup will be chosen by myself, the Captain as possible winners can (and have been) on the committee in previous years. I will be taking suggestions (name and reason) as for this award to aide me in the choice and ensure nobody is left out of consideration. These nominations will be anonymous and only seen by myself.
