Rediscover Malahide arches - playspot
« on: April 27, 2014, 18:01:03 »
Four of us went to Malahide arches today. Wiki description.

You can find it here .

Turns out the wiki description isn't fully right. Best to go there 2.5 to 3 hours after high tide. The tide should be at least 4.1m While it's not the greatest wave to surf it could be an option for the summer when the rivers are dry.

Steve took some photos. Hopefully they will go on line to an idea of what its like.

Here's a dropbox link to a video a just threw together with some clips from Sunday. It shows how the feature progressed from not being there at all, to shallow, to flushy and deep and then it started to get to optimal! We left before it was properly running.

Apologies for foggy lens. Slat water seems to leave a residue on the lens if you don't regularly wipe/lick the lens!

Cool, looks like a spot to head for during the summer!
