Poohy:
So guys, i said i would put up the generall running order and events for varsities so that people can get an idea of whats on and start training for it :)

Friday

* POLO!!:We need to retain our current title so make sure ye are coming to the training sessions with Matt on Wednesdays. Also, the team will be selected based on people who play DCPL/ last years team and who are attending the polo pool sessions
* Slalom: This is a new event and is being held on flatwater, making it open to EVERYONE! Anyone can make this team (of 10 people) so get training
Saturday

* Whitewater: This is open to all level 3 paddlers, but you must be level 3! A team of 4 will be chosen based on whitewater trials and a committee decision. Trials shall be held at the start of next semester
* Freestyle: Open to everyone, team of 4. Being held on tuam, or else a surf comp if tuam isnt working. Flat water is a last resort. Get practicing in the pool and then mess arround on features on the river! Trials will be held next semester.
Sunday

* Long Distance: This is a mass participation event, EVERYONE will be competing! :) DOnt worry its actually not "long" this year. :P So the best way to train for this is to get into the pool and do a few lengths, practicing your forward strokes. Simon Grennell is our expert here, so ask him for tips and tricks :)

NOTE: There must be AT LEAST one girl and one boy on each team

DATES:
friday the 5th till sunday the 7th of febuary

Ross:
Ugh, they did the long distance on the Sunday last time Castlebar hosted it and it was a terrible idea. Everyone was hungover, and then the prize giving was delayed as they needed to figure out the results of the long distance.

Slalom looks interesting though with 10 on it! Are boats going to be provided at all do you know?

Poohy:
Boats are provided for slalom! you CANT USE YOUR OWN BOAT!!

Also Long distance is only 1 km

DervM:
Sooooo 1km sprint?

Also deadly on the slalom. All good things!

Ross:

That sentence doesn't make any sense, there is an inherent contradiction in it

You can't use your own boat for slalom? If I were to have a lovely slalom boat I couldn't use it then? Odd...
