The point of the slalom is to encourage beginners, WW team can't be on the slalom team, and the boats is to ensure an even playing field 😜
LD is only 1km for GP so as not to scare freshers off (supposedly a minor issue for loads of colleges)
It's 2.5 and 5 for other categories :)

I think the forum records still have the slalom debate from the last time UCD made the exact same rules.

Yeah, I remember that... Everyone there this weekend seemed happy with it, I think it's because (apart from the fog) everyone saw the benefit of the boaterX last year as a mass participation event...
