Canoe Club Relay for Life Team
« on: January 28, 2017, 22:54:00 »
This email came from Sarah Kearney; Relay for Life is a 24 hour event that brings the whole community together to Celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, to Remember those whom we have lost to the disease and to Fight Back by increasing our knowledge of cancer and by raising money to fund the vital research and services provide by the Irish Cancer Society. At Relay, teams of family members, friends, societies and committees set up camp for 24hrs and ensure at least one member of their team is walking around the track at all times. While they are doing that, a festival of fun, fundraising, entertainment and community takes place which unites everybody in the fight against cancer.

We are pleased to announce that this year's Relay for Life will be the biggest and best yet as it is our 5 year anniversary and we are pulling out all the stops to make this years event as enjoyable as possible while raising as much as we can for The Irish Cancer Society. If you participated in Relay 2016 you will understand how much energy the teams give to Relay and we would like to invite you to register a team. Relay For Life is a fun and bonding experience for all involved and we feel like clubs and societies benefit greatly from this.

We are having our launch on Thursday the 2nd of February and will be registering teams at our stand outside James Joyce Library from 9am-4pm. Don’t miss the opportunity to avail of our Early Bird rate of €75 in comparison to the usual €100. In order to register your team all you have to do is pay a €10 deposit and fill in the Team Registration form at the stand. Teams can be composed of 10-15 people and you are more than welcome to submit more than one team. This year the event will take place in Devlin Park, UCD (on the astro-turf) on April 12th and we’d love to see ye there.  We will also be attending Refreshers day so feel free to sign up then as well.

Check out the event page below for more details and we look forward to seeing you all there.

The club has done this the last couple of years and its always been a success, and it would be great to do it again! Usually a be-wheeled kayak is used, with one paddler in situ and two others pulling the kayak along, which lends it a rather nice paddler theme, as well as a wonderful opportunity to raise funds and awareness for The Irish Cancer Society. We'd like to get an idea of numbers interested, so get your name down!!! :) :) :) afro.gif
