Merry Kerry 17/18 Gear
« on: December 22, 2017, 00:20:04 »
I hope everyone is super excited about the upcoming Merry Kerry!! (which is the absolute best!!)

Just a few* little things for freshers/ Merry Kerry virgins/ anyone as forgetful as I am:

-The Kerry trip is regarded as a private trip, so for this reason, we have to fill out gear borrowing forms (please see link below) accepting that you take full responsibility for any club gear borrowed for the duration of the trip. Fpr the form: the grade of rivers we are running is Grade 2, and don't worry about the expected levels- they are very subject to change!

-When the gear is returned at the end of the trip, you can click that its gone back into the boathouse (and we will have a very happy Quippy!)

-We have done up a list of boats for everyone coming on the trip, if anyone wants to change boats, please message one of committee and we'll see what we can do the list below also includes how the gear is getting down to Kerry, eternal gratitude to Peter for driving the ucd van!

-REALLY IMPORTANT: anyone who needs to borrow club paddles/BA's/ spraydecks/ wetsuits/helmets etc, please comment below with your name and exactly what you need, by 2pm tomorrow as we are packing up the van then.

- Its 20€ for each night and 100€ for six nights, this covers the houses, and dinner too!:)

- Kerry is a marathon (session) and the water, while lovely, is pretty nippy, so bring as many warm clothes as you can, thermals/fleeces/PJs, hiking boots/walking shoes are recommended, and a proper raincoat. And something nice for New Years Eve, its such a lovley evening

- Make sure and give petrol money to our lovely drivers for journeys to/ from Kerry,

- Bring snacks (and drink of course!), cannot recommend this enough, I was a happy girl with my boiled eggs each morning, bringing snacks to put in someones dry bag for on the river is especially smart.

- We will be making dinner each night, pls help out with this and cleaning too <3

-GET EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :discopaddler: :discopaddler: :discopaddler: :discopaddler:
*apologies for any and all waffling in this post, this is actually the abridged version

Did we decide if people are paying for their private boats to be transported in the van? I think I suggested 5 euro a boat last year.

Van has been packed! Due to the alarming lack of responses, we packed 12 of everything. Please don't forget to bring whatever wetsuits and thermals you can, as well as booties or old shoes for paddling in. I have it on good authority that Kerry is hella cold to paddle in.
