Colours 2019 - Mystery Tour
Jack Van Lang:
Mystery Tour Bby 8th November
Holy frick! It’s almost that time of the semester where we go on our annual Colours Trip on the 8th - 10th of November, so exciting! This year we’re going to *REDACTED* for the weekend to live it up on the coast (what coast though? Or am I lying and there is no coast, maybe this whole trip is a lie..only Dan knows).
Yes, this year we are doing a mystery tour so no one knows where we’re going, not even the bus driver. If you do know where we’re going and you ruin the surprise for Shanley you will be excommunicated. Jokes aside no spoilers please.
The trip will kick off at the clubhouse at 5pm where we’re going to meet for pints before we head off. You’ll find us on the left as you come in the door of the clubhouse. We'll be waving goodbye to UCD at 6:00pm sharp and hello to the session for the rest of the weekend.
This price is great value for money and includes:
-Accommodation. This will be tight so be prepared to share beds, ayy lmao.
- The banter bus (drink allowed) to and from *REDACTED* on Friday followed by a good ol' fashioned UCDCC Seshwan
- A morning of surf kayaking on Saturday
- Cable tie competition on Saturday evening with outstanding prizes
- Breakfast will be provided on both mornings and dinner will be cooked by our in house chefs on Saturday night.
In between all the comradery, there'll be a light sprinkling of lovely cans, and further banter. So, get your names down below, and your €65 to a committee member ASAP to secure your place on the most seductive weekend of your lifetime. Committee will be accepting money at lunch times, any pool session, paddle fit or River Trip. If you would prefer to transfer the money the IBAN is: IE10BOFI90410639168177. If you are transferring the money make sure you sign your name on the transaction or you will be hunted like the animal you are.
Note: Cost raised from 60 -> 65
Again this includes your transport, accommodation, breakfast x2 and a dinner on Saturday
Now, in case your mammy is no longer packing your suitcase, please bring:
• Money for any snacks, chocolate, alcohol etc
• For kayaking: Warm clothes!!!! (avoid cotton at all costs! It makes you very, very cold when you’re wet). Anything made out of 'poly-' materials is a good bet! Fleeces are great! Fleecy pyjamas are even better! Tights make a good layer, especially to pop over your fleecy layers before trying to put on a wetsuit (even the lads should consider investing!!) If you have a wetsuit bring it! If not, the club has a small selection of them...try to get to the boathouse on time to get first pick!
You can never, ever have enough layers!!!
So here’s your essential guide to keeping nice and toasty on the river ; http://forum.ucdcanoeclub.com/index.php/topic,10222.0.html
• A pair of old shoes! (Or wet booties if you have them). The water is going to be low (on the beach), and those stones really aren't the most fun!! If you don't have a pair, pop into your local Penneys or Tesco and pick up a pair of cheap shoes!
• Towel(s) and warm, dry clothes for both days!
NB if you have not been at a pool session you must attend one before going to *REDACTED* to do a capsize drill and swim test, but a river trip is not a prerequisite to coming.
If you have any questions at all feel free to message the page on fb or email ucdcanoeclub@gmail.com
