id have to agree with ritchie there, though i never danced like a fairy onto a hockey pitch. i dont think that  choking on a gumguard would be a problem either, kinda like swallowing your tongue, it dosent happen unless you take a knife to it. as well as that i dont see it falling out if you mold it properly.

There is nothing fairy about Hockey..those girls will fight dirty.

If the former, you'll never swallow a gum shield.

I too played hockey back in the day and i saw some pretty vicous facial injuries
but never damaged teeth when the person wore their gum shield. They are uncomfortable
and difficult to speak with but you just have to get used to them. As everyone else said if
it fits well it should be fine. anyway i know i dont paddle but dont you guys have river signals
so you dont have to speak on the river?
