Damming Val Sesia, Italy
« on: February 09, 2009, 10:59:14 »
"A decision will be made on whether to dam the Sessia, Italy, 11th February 2009, so time is running out to add your name to the petition

http://www.petitiononline.com/ses_chi/petition.html

I'm currently living in piemonte and the local paddlers and all of those who take trips to italy would really appreciate 15 seconds of your time to add your name to the partition before 11th feb. Hope to see you in the Sessia valley spring-time.. Cheers, Pete Moss."

It really does only take 15 seconds, and anyone who enjoys whitewater paddling ought to sign this.

Already signed this one (number 535 and proud), a great river and well worth the tiny bit of effort to try and help it.

Cormac, I know it's been snowing but Lucan is definitely not Piemonte...

Bloody hell! Sign this petition, people. The decision is to be made on Wednesday. The Sesia and the rivers that flow into it are some the best happy-days creeking in Europe...

The Sesia makes Catherine happy:

You don't want to make Catherine unhappy, now do you?

Jim.

You'll have a hard time getting Kat's (then 1 day old) boat to sign it.

Good news from Turin:

We made it, but we're just half the way
The Sesia river tributaries are again protected by a law which will prevent any spoiling action against the Valsesia torrents; On the other side the Chiusella river situation is now in stand-by, with the official intent from the Regional Council of resolving the position within 20 days
The coordination of the two commitees continues its effort for reaching a complete restore of the protection law for the Chiusella too.

Thanks to everyone who came to Turin today, to everyone who signed the petition, and to those who helped us in other ways

The petition continues at: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http:// ... ition.html

Fair play to all who signed, the petition nearly trebled in numbers in the final 48 hours.

Conor.
