Same! (Also I'll DEFINITELY have a car by then so IF i did go and we were driving and getting the ferry I could drive)

Handy thing about not being on the board for a while seems to be that people say what I wanna say so then I don't even need to bother saying it myself  :)

You have four months to get yourself up to level 3 standard. I will say I've been twice once was a massive trip with 44 people on it the other had five cars and about 18 of us. The big one was more fun off the water the smaller more fun on the water. I've no idea yet if I will be going but I know others in their first year have gone but you would really have to put in the hours now to get the most out of it or else have your car as tourists who may paddle. There is plenty to do if you don't get to paddle everyday, via ferrata, rafting, hiking and loads of other stuff.

I went out in my first year, some cool and devilishly good looking people were kind enough to deal with my ineptitude while over there. 'Twas fun...

While the L3 is a handy benchmark for people to aim for, it's definitely not the be all and end all - don't get too caught up paperchasing. Talk to the instructors leading your Saturday trips, let them know that your plan is to hit the French Alps this coming summer and ask for their advice and coaching tips.. Get a training plan, commit to it and track it i.e. set specific goals and timeframes you need to hit.

After that, get out loads and you'll do ok, it's a fun place I'd love to go back to.
