Boat fixing before Varsities
Maryanne:
Hey guys!
there are a few boats that need a little TLC before we take them out to Cork;
Gola Sprint: some leaking and possible crack around the nose
Canadian: it had a little rough treatment its first few days back in the boathouse, might need a once over
Fibre glass boats: need TLC in general
Other: anyone who doesn't own a boat is welcome to come along and outfit one
As far as I can tell the key people here are Matt Flood (for fibre glass know-how + supplies), Nuala (know-how + equipment) and possibly Karen, Niall (more know-how and tools). So it appears the smartest way to go about this is figure out when you guys are free, supply you with a key and as many helping hands as are available!
Please post up when suits, whether you want to fix boats, are interested in outfitting a club boat for yourself for future rivertrips or are just up for lending a hand.
The current combination of rain (ie opportunity to paddle) timetables etc may make this a little tricky to organise, so please include anytime you're happy to come along.
Thank you!
Maryanne
Maryanne:
Monday: after 18:00
Tuesday: after 20:00
Wednesday: after 12:00
Thursday: after 20:00
Friday: after 14:00
Saturday: after river trip
Sunday: after 12:00/river trip
But I could meet people around campus to supply keys before those times.
I'm interested in outfitting my boat, and would also lend a hand with any bigger projects.
Nuala:
This week:
Friday after 12.00
Sunday: will check
Next week - Monday to Wednesday after 16:00.
This Friday afternoon? We could even start loading the trailer for Saturday if enough people show up.
Karen:
I could wander down for 2 hours from 12 on friday.
Also, some key points for fibreglass repair,
* wear old clothes
* wear rubber, or preferably latex gloves
* cover repairs with clingfilm
* have a proper sissors
* bring speakers!
Matt Flood:
Fridays mi9ght be the best for me. Mostly after 2, but i'm kinda busy at the mo so i'll confirm soon. :)
