Howdie folks,
So some of you fine people have been going to Sluice lately and to be honest, it's been pretty dam impressive.
How would you guys feel about getting a few days of proper coaching from a proper freestyler?
Kick yo' all onto the next level!
The main requirement here is that you need to have a good moving-water roll.
If you're not too sure if you're in that category then maybe send me a text or a pm and I'l have a chat with you.
Alternative, get going to Sluice now and that'll really help you develop a solid roll.
Getting the boat properly outfitted for yourself will also really help.
Boom!
here's some videos of what freestyle actually looks like!
Bam! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7gMpqD-yDI&list=UUnBJsPd6EokHdq4U9qX9qww&index=7&feature=plcp)

Attending the course:
ME!
Maryanne D?
Marie D?
Niall F
Cormac
Eoghan D?
Bill D?
Diarmuid D?
Karen D?
Cillian D?
Who wants to drive?
(and in a few years, the guys in those videos might even be old enough to go to college)
-
I'd love to do it!
-
i'd be up for it...
-
Yes, absolutely!
Hopefully in a brand new, actually Maryanne sized boat 8)
-
Yeah, up for it
-
im in!
-
also, we had the pleasure of watching those guys from the second video training away today. not quite sure they appreciated cormacs efforts in the habitat....
-
i'd be up for it, long as it wasnt pricey
-
Cool, it hopefully won't be too pricey at all.
It's the same guys in both videos, they're there often ( I hear that's how you get good).
-
Hi
-
Yeah I'd be well up for it !
-
What date are we looking at for this? I'm up for it anyway
-
When roughly would people be available for this kind of thing?
Also, it might not be possible to take everyone. Please don't be offended. The decision on who get on will be based on Paddling ability (mostly how dependable your roll is), group strength and getting drivers ( which hopefully won't actually come into it)
-
There's a load on in June already, so maybe July? (a weekend sometime ^^?)
-
I was thinking more like ASAP
Time's a wasting.
There could be more than one day though. Another day later on would also allow people the chance to hone their paddling and be able to do this.
Folks: Get out paddling on suitable water as much as you can!
If people are heading to Suice for example, you don't have to go into the feature. The few hundred meters after it provide the best training ground we have for honing those skill you need for your level3, rolling or just improving

How's about the sunday of second RSR weekend? The 17th of June. Some of us are planning on going to Toome development day the weekend before. So it'd seem like a good time to me. Who doesn't love two days on Sluice ^-^.
-
Not the 17th, there's a marathon race on.
And a polo competition.
It won't be in Sluice, it's not the most friendly venue for what we're talking about.
I'll try and find out more about Toome. It's kind of an odd place, with metal bars under the water at the feature. As it's generally accepted that it's not the most suitable venue for novice freestylers, I'll try and find out at what level the development day is aimed.
Moving swuiftly onwards
What does everyone else think in terms of dates?
The board is very quiet this evening...exams must be over.
-
I'd be interested in this. Weekends would suit me best. I think I'm free most weekends in June.
-
As always I'm free almost any time . . except when I'm not
-
-
We're meant to have that committee meeting on sunday - just reminding anyone involved. I can't do any of those dates, but maybe more will happen later on in the summer.
-
maybe more will happen later on in the summer.
Yup, absolutely.
-
Can't do any of those either, will have to go on those later ones. And/or Toome...
-
Damn, I'm on placement on these dates so I'll have to wait until the later dates :( ...it sounds class though.
-
"later" will be towards the end of the summer. Even some of the saturdays wouldn't suit you guys?
-
the 26th maybe? its a saturday so must suit most people...it also gives a few days for people to get the the west for a few days next week... :)
-
26th suits me. Stack is a much better venue.
-
20th we have committee meeting, but that could well be an evening thing I guess. Roughly how long would this day go on for?
-
i can do pretty much any weekend that there isnt other kayaking things on
-
OK, so my status has changed, I can do the Sat 26th now :)
-
I can make my self available any day from now until I go abroad (don't know when that is, will update once I do).
Except the 19th which is the boathouse cleanup day.
