Title: Club inventory
Post by: Peter O'Sullivan on February 26, 2014, 20:17:36
I have made some minor updates to the club inventory and put in on line. I didn't change any of the estimated values, will do that later. Also hope to add better descriptions of boat condition.

It was a bit of a surprise to me when I realised the club has over 70 boats! The aim of putting this on line was to keep members informed of what the club owns and in the hope the gear gets used more often and more effectively.

Another update to the inventory.

Many changes have been to the boats sheet, very minor changes else where.

In terms of gear over all in the BH. The green Rocker ( which was beyond repair) was donated to Cavan Canoe to make a sign.

Disposal of old unusable boats will continue. Cheers for the feedback before, added what info I could.

Next step in keeping track of club gear is to keep track of boat condition. Assessment of condition is very subjective, here's a suggested scoring system out of 10. Broken/welded boats get zero. Obviously subject to change/input pointing out things I've left out. Idea is that during the annual boathouse clean out the gear would be assessed and new boats bought as required. Eg, if all the creekers score very low we get some new ones. Hopefully this will also add structure to decisions on buying second hand boats for the club ( or justifying a decision not to). Also perhaps a threshold of disposal could be established.

1.   Hull
2.   Seat
3.   Foot rests
4.   Front pillar and back pillar
5.   Thigh/knee grips

6.   Grabs loops
7.   Back band
8.   Hip pads
9.   Bung
10.   Nuts and bolts and small outfitting.

My last update the inventory.

Main changes are on the boat page, the values were revised. Condition descriptions also improved.

Hopefully this will help people make better use of the club boats over the summer.

Turns out the wavehopper is still leaking slowly.

One of the CFSs was fixed on the boathouse clean up day. Probably only good for flat water or pool use.

After tightening some bolts the boat is now water tight and is ready for paddling.
