Title: Brian Boru Polo Competition - Killaloe co. Clare, 30thJun-1stJul
Post by: HelenaC on June 19, 2012, 11:12:42
anyone interested? who is that goes and enters our teams?

and apparently theres a campsite next to the pitch and theres a festival on at the same time.... unless theres something else on to say we havnt talked about this one before?

snickers "get some nuts"?

ah, but does anyone NOT want to do marathon and want to do polo instead? :)

Boom!

Team entered, money paid, cat in cradle etc...

1. Diarmuid Ryan
2. Niall Bouchier
3. Helena Coughlan (c)
4. Jean Kelly
5. Lorcan Fields
6. Dervla McAuley
7. Garbhann Gorman
8. Cormac Roche (eejit)

The entry will be E85 between us. We'll be able to camp beside the pitches - I hope to even bring a tent this time. Killaloe hosts it's local festival this weekend so it should be buzzing. I found a description that I think is a couple of years old, but you should get an idea of what to expect.  (https://sites.google.com/site/brianborupolocompetition/FESTIVAL-EVENTS)

Drivers - Any nice, amazing people interested in driving down?

Boats - As Helena said above, there should be some down there, HOWEVER, it seems that DCU are looking for a way to get their boats down. Perhaps we could help them out in exchange for using their boats too? Up to the drivers really, what do you think?

I think that's it...

Gear borrowing, I'll have to check this, but as it's a competition we shouldn't have to privately borrow gear off the club.

Firstly, thanks to Helena for getting the ball rolling on this topic, I just thought I'd change it round a bit to make it a little more co-ordinated.

It's another weekend long competition, very similar to the one in Galway that was damn good fun and I reckon really helped our polo.

It'll be a two day competition with about four games or so each day (depending on how well we do!). It'll be five-a-side again with rolling subs on a full pitch.

It'll be in Killaloe, Co. Clare - this is only about 2 hours away from Dublin and I believe a lovely spot.
You'll be able to camp beside the pitches, so we shouldn't have to pay for it. There should  be a couple of other college clubs there and some othere friendly folks, so good times are assured.
Sun also guaranteed.
It looks something like this...

So who's interested:
Helena
Diarmuid
Niall B
Garbhann

And yis can all stay in my house on friday and saturday night, if you want. Only twenty-thirty minutes from Killaloe.

I'm interested in this - mainly cause it's so close- but am unsure of how my wrist will be for it. You might want to get someone actually reliable (and good  :P).

ill drive, if we find roofracks then ill take boats, but i cant afford to buy a set (and dont really want a replay of the club racks, i just dont think they fit my car well enough, no offence to them or anything...)

ill take min 3 people, 4 if theres someone else to take gear.... :)

The thing we realised with the roofracks at the rsr course is that the lads (I blame Diarmuid  :P) had been attempting to put them on in the gutters. The roofracks, as with most Thule roofracks, are - as far as I know - intended to fit onto the doorframe. This is a far more secure spot for them, it rests on the car frame and is securely fastened; maybe your car might need one of the other attachements but they're all in the bag that the racks were in.

You might not like the racks or want to use them, but if you give them another go then they should fit better. Seriously.

And hey, we get spectators!

yea thats what i was thinking but the last one was such a fiasco and needs tools that i dont have.... and i think the lads may have unintentionally affected the integrity of the racks.....

good stuff UCD Stars

we finished 3rd in Division 3

After placing third in the group stages with two wins and two losses we were defeated by GKC (Summerbay High) in the semi-final and faced NUIG (aka Bob the Angry Swan) in the third place playoff.
