Title: And so it begins
Post by: Mark on August 29, 2007, 17:52:44
Hey folks, The new season is almost here! (although apparently the last season didn't have the decency to stop while I was away). And that means a truckload of new freshers which means we need a truckload of boats and gear! So, if you have any club gear we need it back as soon as possible so we can count it and work out how many freshers we can bring paddling. If you have any club gear on you please post up here so we can at least know what's where and then I'll give you a shout to arrange a a time for you to drop it out to the club house.

In other news we now have solid dates for all of next years main events!

Freshers weekend is on 12th,13th and 14th of October!
Venue is the otterholt in carlow.

Colours is on the 16th,17th 18th November
Venue: Lahinch!

Kerry is the week over new years! (Shocking)
Venue: Killarney

The intervarsities will be 22nd,23rd,24th february (subject to change)
Venue : Limerick, the club have yet to book accommodation for this.

Intervarsities in November? Carlow let's not do that stretch I suggested last year. Kerry in Killarney? Hopefully limerick will just do what they did last time we stayed at a hotel.
Thanks by the way.

What happened to freshers weekend in kilkenny in the scout hall?! We have to weed out the shit freshers early so a messy vomit filled beer hall would be the way to do that, no? Apart from that carlow sounds cool but there is no way i'm paddling that 3 hour flat stretch again!

Scout hall under renovations :(

The part about that stretch is that it is shorter than graighnamana to st mullens, which is about a mile between weirs and it is about 45min to an hour from carlow. It only took two and a half hours but shit weirs. I apologised enough for it.

The otterholt was a crap venue! Is there the option of a scout hall anywhere else?

Little hint do not air committee laundry in public. It works better cause everyone thinks your brillant instead nearly killing each other.

Kmck, I think mention of "superhole" may indicate that she was joking.

I looked for alternative venues, and there aren't very many. The amount of places that get suddenly angry when they hear mention of kayakers from dublin is alarming.

God damn you and your subtle references to things I couldn't possibly know or understand!

I have the Ego, stretch and outlaw. 1b/aid, 1deck, 3..possibly
4blades and your own palm deck.
(This could possible be Ciaran's I was informed today?)

I shall return these Sat/Sunday or when suits during the wk!!

Speaking of subtle references, I'm loving the Yeti from that old skiing game, Mark.

Anyways. I think the club trip both days on freshers' weekend should be that horrendless stretch so that we the non-paddlers can subvert the cause and convince a bunch of freshers to skip it and just hang around and drink all day.

Yeah mark, Quit airing your laundry in pubic!!!!

There should be coarses run for the incoming committee's on not being retarded or subtle, but who would run them??

Ps, was the otterholt the place we went last year?? we shouldn't go there again if there are any more of those polish conscription workers. They (or stef) drank all our vodka.

I also think we should run that 12km flat water stretch just so Simon the Bitter can have a go.

Also I commend who ever put spell check on the Notice board. Very good, there were 4 incorrect spellings in my last message. I if cared enough I could correct them.

It's also much more polite than caprani, all it does is underline the word. no obsenities at all. :)

What are the membership cards like?? they have to be better than last year.

During freshers weekend, to attract alot more girls to the canoe club we can hold club house parties.?? I dont think anyone would disagree with that idea?? guaranteed fun to be had by everyone..

I think services might not be too happyif we start advertising boat house parties & anyway why would we need to attract more girls to the club? ;)

speaking of parties, stay tuned over the next few days. I have to wait for my housemate to get back from his holidays so I can run it by him, but I'm hoping to throw a party on September 22 (the day of the first Dun Laoghaire trip).

Sir,
I challenge you to find any instance when I used profanity in relation to spelling and/or grammar. I think you have mistaken my approach to that of Killian's during his 'blue' period. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever used profanity on the message board, but feel free to correct me on this - properly referenced quotes only are admissable as evidence.  :P
