Title: A new type of colours race
Post by: Peter O'Sullivan on June 28, 2016, 22:14:59
I was thinking... , keep in might I might be high on epoxy fumes at the moment after fixing a fibreglass boat,  how about a new type of colours competition between ourselves and DUKC. Rather than the annual Ennistymon race that never happens how about a race from UCDCC's boathouse to DUKC's new container by Grand Canal Dock! Including Le Mans start from the boathouse. Race down to the Dodder, portage weirs where required. Climb up a slipway into the Grand Canal Dock and sprint across to DUKC's container. Down a beer at the end to be declared the winner.

The next logical step to that was....

So DUKC came back to me and said they are up for this. We would need to have a scout run first to see if its do-able. So when it rains, who wants to have a crack at this?

Would each club nominate one 'champion' to represent or would it be teams or what were you thinking there? To speed up portages it could be fun to do a relay style where people changeover at each weir or obstacle with everyone still using the same boat and each person finishing their leg has to down a can before the handover?
