So I'll be organising a REC 3 for around the end of August/start of September.
Who's interested!?
For anyone who doesn't know it's basically a first aid qualification that lasts for 3 years, really good thing to have.
Probably be a weekend course (Friday to Sunday). Nothing confirmed yet but just need to gauge interest.
-
Would definitely be interested! Would need to be a weekend thing for me to go though, cause placement ...
Or like done before the weekend of the 29th ...
You've my interest for now, anyway
-
I'd be interested. Again I'll have placement so would have to be a weekend for me.
-
Interested but have a wedding the last weekend in august
-
interested, but i imagin id be busy when the time came
-
I'm interested but will be working weekdays :)
-
I think my runs out of date in September so put me down for it.
-
I'd be interested..thesis submission is the 2nd of September though so preferably after that date..
-
Interested but mightn't be around for it
-
So Vaughan Mason is available the weekend of the 19th-21st August for a REC 3. Who's available that weekend?
-
It'll be 90 euro per person, food and venue not included.
-

Yeah, thats good for me. Can we have it on campus?
-
I will hopefully be in attendance

We can indeed, I'd rather it on campus personally but I'll see about room availability and where everyone would prefer it.
-
You can previously I've done it in the laragh community centre, gives you a chance to do stuff done by the river

Very true i was thinking of laragh but having it on campus would be much cheaper and convenient for everyone, might be better to have more people doing it in a slightly less optimal place than less people doing it in a better place you know? We'll see anyway
-
Having it at the brockragh centre in Laragh last year was a big plus...we were able to set up scenarios in the forest and down at the river bank which gave a much more realistic idea of how things happen and what you need to look for!
I don't need to do it again this year, but if I was I'd be happy to spend a tiny bit extra to be out there... If yous had cars you could always just drive out?
-
Have you guys who did it in the Brockagh Centre ever done it in UCD? Cause it works really well. You go to the running tracks in the woods/secret lake. All is fine - gives a good idea of the environment.

Nope...so happy to be completely corrected in the pros of Brockagh centre!

As I've done it in both, I think I am qualified to say it's similar enough, however going to Laragh is better craic as you can make a weekend of it and hang out and drink, rather than it just being a course.
-
I've done both and other places. You can go to other areas in UCD that can be useful
-
If you're stuck for numbers ask mountineers or caving club.
I would prefer campus for the training. Don't want to add a hour drive to and from Laragh to a long day.

You'd be staying the night down there though

One can drink in Dublin too 😜 could involve others in the craic too then
-
Yeah hopefully we'll get a pre college reunion session or two in over the weekend!
I would quote Simon's post but I always mess it up when I try lol
