Title: Weekend away in August?
Post by: Tiny Tim on May 20, 2011, 12:37:46
Hey guys so I was thinkin itd be great to get a bit of paddling in in the August. What do people think of hewadin to 1 of the artifial white water courses in the UK? Maybe cardiff as its very near and or Nottingham? Lee Valleys a bit far away and i think more expensive.
Just a thought...

Ah yes, the earthtrembling quest. I can take bodies and boats too. 4 or 5 depending on which car I can get.

My thesis is finished on the 2 August and I'm back in college on the 22 August, so I might come along. Or I might spend my time wandering around Europe, meditating with buddhist monks, touching myself getting in touch with myself, so I'll see...

I've been to Cardiff and it's quite great. Pretty much brand new facilities (Heated floors in the Showers! & an escalator belt that brings you from the harbour to the top of the course without the need to leave your boat)...
If I recall correctly, it was £5/10 for a bib and the bib gives you the right to use the course as often as you would like for a day...

And Cardiff has mountains which one can climb, I hear.

So what you're saying is that you could have a 6pack in your boat, run the course six times and have a chilled out beer while being brought back to the top?? sweeeet

If the dates are good, I'll more than likely head too

it sounds to good to be true...

Really looking forward to it - also if there's decent water while we're over there's quite a few rivers in wales..  8)

Unfortunately it's been the falling from the sky variety as opposed to the running in the rivers variety.

Cool!!! Sorry a I havent been to active on this, mais sempre lavoro!!! Great to see the enthusiasm this might happen wooo!
So yeah I reckon if we try and figure out lifts and sort it that way? Would anyone like to take an over talkative over enthusiastic tiny tim?

Would people rather camp or hostel?

Sara Hayden and Kat did this a few years ago, it would be worth getting in contact with them to find out how they did their weekend.

Cheers for the lead Kieran!

I say camp. I'll take you Dave!

Livia, I don't actually know you, but need you a lift? I'm nice really.

Hey Bill C,

I don't know you either and somehow you made it to be the new Secretary without an appearance! ;) Well, are you at Leighton's goodbye evening thingy tonight?
Well, if Dave is trusting you ok, but I might need a little get to know you first... my mum taught me not to go in a car of a stranger :P

Yeah, one of the best lessons there is. Afraid I'm not back in the country till the very end of July. Okay, that offer did sound a bit inappropriate (as you don't actually know me), so apologies! Only best intentions were meant! In fact I'm going to have to stave off on offering lifts to anyone for a short while until I'm sure which car I'll have and so how many I can actually take. I'll how many when I know!

Hey Bill,
I was halfway joking. It's cool if I could have a spot in your car with crazy Dave :)

Hey Darina, we've settled on the 12th/16th/14th August. Anyone have a scope on campsites out there?
