Since there will be no bus to or from Kerry, this is the place where you can organise lifts down between yourselves!
So post up if you need a lift and what dates you are looking to arrive/leave and drivers post up how many free seats you have in your cars, whether you have racks for boats and what dates you plan on going!
If you do get a lift off someone, please remember to be respectful and leave their car free of your stuff/rubbish and ALWAYS chip in for petrol! It's mighty expensive to get the whole way to and from Kerry!
Also, if you're getting the train/bus to killarney which isn't too far you could organise with someone to pick you up from there!
Can't wait to see you all there!
-
Space for (cozy) 4 going home the 3rd. Roof space for 2 or 3 boats.
Driving there from Bantry on the 27th or 28th, which I'm fairly sure will suit no-one, but can pick peeps up from Tralee/Killarney/Kilorglin along the way.
-
I will have room for 3/4 people around the foxrock/blackrock/stillorgan area going down either late on the 27th or early 28th, coming back up on the evening of the 1st or morning of the second! No boat racks
-
Have space for 1/2 heading down early on the 27th from Enniskerry/South Dublin/UCD
Heading home on the 3rd (probably)
No boat racks
-
Leaving home, arse end of Laois just beside carlow town, on the 27th one space, space for boats when I'm in Kerry but not really going down. Coming back on the 2nd. This is provisional on me being completely done and dusted with the thesis.

-

Well, I guess I'll be needing a lift then, doubt the car will be available for a week...
-
Eoghan or Finch or Dani, preferably Eoghan or Finch since I wanna go down on the 27th and leave on the 3rd..
Can I have a lift?? I don't have a boat so I'll be borrowing a club boat, (please captain Eoghan?)

Let me know!! xx
P.s. yes I'm drunk, tonight is my napier canoe club christmas dinner!!
-
Hey Rachel,
I'm driving down myself in my car so I dont mind giving you a lift - hit me up on facebook today at some point
-
Dani may I please get a lift up and back with you, as you know I live just up the road from you
-
I think I'll have the car, space for 2/3... heading down 27th or 28th, leaving 2nd.
-
Hey Dani if there's any space left with you could I take it? :) Or if you're full is anyone else is gonna be heading from the UCD area?
-
I won't be back in Ireland until the 30th, so if anyone is going down that day a lift would be greatly appreciated! :-)
Cheers,
Anne-Marie
-
Train to killarney (http://www.irishrail.ie/your_journey/printed_timetable_pdfs/2011/Dublin%20Tralee%2011.pdf) There is also a bus service as far as glenbeigh most days from the train station. Failing that call someone to arrange a lift. There are alterations to this service until the 28th so check out the website. This is only if you don't find a lift.

-
Hi Matt - i was thinking of going down on the 28th possibly and then coming back up on the 2nd - if i could perhaps hastle you for a lift ??? all this depending of course on if a get the days off work.
-
Dani ........ Can I go wih you in your momo :-* I will provide snacks and tasty treats :)
-
My car is full, I have Emma, Ellen, Catherine and Louisa.
If people can't get lifts remember you can get the bus/train down to Killarney and organise lifts to/from there!
-
I am also returning to Ireland on the morning of the 30th and lookin' for a way down to Kerry that day if anyone is going down late-ish! If no one is, guess it'll just be a bus or train adventure.

A word to wise Roger, surf wax won't melt this time of year. You should leave some eggs on his dashboard instead, or maybe a mug of buckfast...I'd like to see him get rid of the smell of that.
-
im in need of a lift down if anyone has space, no need for boat rack just a bag :D
-
Does anyone have a spare seat driving to and from Kerry? I was planning on going for all 7 days.
-
i too am in need of a lift! danii's car is too cool for me...

Douchier you have wisdom far beyond your years. Hmm, let me think. Instead of melting from the heat, it may be cold enough to freeze shit. Wat get's really messy and shit when it freezes?
-
what about shit?

hmm

Wait, I've got it. When he goes to the shop you lift up the bonnet and leave the surf-wax on the engine. He'll be wondering where that strangely pleasant aroma is coming from for weeks.
Also make sure to bring the walkie-talkies, he loves those.

Dear freshers,
This thread is only the start of the lifts process!
It shall not suffice to merely post up your need here, sit back and wait for the offers to come in! Thou must be proactive!! See who's offering lifts on days that suit you and endeavour to contact them directly. PM them (personal message, see "my messages" on the top button bar), text them! Use the dangerous medium of bookface!
Go forth freshers and hunt for your lifts!
-
I don't think I want to drive down anymore.....
-
but, kids need you Matt

Car Full
-
Now driving to Kerry from Cork city on the 27th. Can bring any from that neck of the woods.
-
I'll be driving down depending on water levels either the 27th or 28th. Potentially going via Limerick, potentially going via rivers in that area.
I have space for 2 or so, plus boats.
I'll be heading home the 2nd.

Just to reiterate Bill's point to all our Kerry journey first timers and use Evan's lovely post here as an example:
Saying "bags"/"I'll take that spot" or similar on a post in this thread is no guarantee of a space, you've got to get in touch with the driver in person/on the phone/by text/by PM and have them confirm thy can/will take you.
The awkward moment when you turn up to the car you thought you were going to Kerry in, to find it full and leaving without you.
^^Like this if you cried... :'(

Bahaha fantastic!

I used to drive back to dublin to give people lifts down, then I thought why do I add two hours to my journey just to collect people. Now I just tell people to make their own way to me or I can meet you on the way down. Still unsure will know for sure on tuesday.
-
Whats the name of the place we're going again ?
-
Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry
-
Clearwater Houses

Sweet thanks guys

I will be heading from mayo through Galway and Limerick on the 29th but maybe the 28th. Probably the 28th as I have January exam not to be studying for.
I will probably have put the roof rack onto my car along with my boat unless it's way to cold to stand outside long enough to tighten them and the river are so high I'm scared off.
-
So obviously not sure if i'll be driving down now (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150463135802490.386697.507612489&type=3 (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150463135802490.386697.507612489&type=3)) - once I know I'll give people a shout
-
Right, so I'll be driving down on the 28th, coming home on the 2nd. I've Niall Finch in my car, and Rog if he still wants a lift and doesn't leave any melted shit on the dashboard :police:
So I've space for 1 more if anyone needs a lift on those days
-
And I've one space for going down on the 28th, or potentially the evening of the 27th
-
Yay.
-
Hi Matt I've sent you a text but feel it only right to lay my claim online so that people know to back off and that I was here first. If my username doesn't suggest it for you I am Killian (the Sundermann one, Carla's brother, not the one who got arrested semi naked in the middle of waterford) and I was wondering if that that place is still free in your car. If it is I would greatly appreciate if you could text me or send me a call me on 0852781324. After which I will ring you and you could tell me where and when you want me ( woops that sounded a little wrong) to be on the 27th. If the seat is in fact taken then kind regards and no hard feelings, Killian
-
Hey Killian - got your text, sent you one back :D
-
-
You'd need to arrange with people to pick you up somewhere if you're getting the train or bus!
-
There is a bus to glenbeigh just check if it's running it leaves from the train station
-
Take the train/luas/bus/car and any other possible forms of transport. Except don't make any plans, just wing it on the day... that's how the cool cats roll....
Eoghan, amiright?

Lol...sigh...
-
Clare the idea of just winging it sounds great but the main train ticket cost 21 quid now which is great but sadly if you try buy it on the day at hueston they can fuck you and charge over 50, so I'd wing it bar the system picks on the desperate and they know they can get away with it.

From dublin, head to limerick, from there head in the direction of kilarney there's a turn off but your going to miss it so from kilarney head to kilorglin then onto glenbeigh it's pretty straight forward.
Alternative route is through Mallow but as myself and Diarmaid a couple years ago discovered Mallow is the pit of hell where all hope dies.
-
right lads, weather permitting, I'm driving down 8)
In the car:
Garbhan,
Jean,
Ross
1 more seat left
driving from maynooth > thurles > glenbeigh
-
Diarmuid, you don't need to go to Thurles for me, I can meet you on the way somewhere on the way, like Nenagh
-
Hi it's trinity Dee, I'll be driving down either the evening of the 27th or morning of the 28th. I have space in my car and bars - but I won't be going back to Dublin when I leave so if anyone fancies coming with me you'd have to make your own return arrangements for boat and self...
-

NO IT IS NOT!!!!! >:(
just the road to kerry from mallow is shite, its our way of discouraging unfortunate passers by from taking their lives into their hands by accidently straying into the wilderness of kerry......
-
in fairness Helena, the road to Mallow is shit too...
grand, so i'm now going
Maynooth > Kerry
with maybe a stop or two ;P
-
pretty sure we should definitely implement the tuck and roll method of letting passengers out of the car

Ooh! Does that mean that we can go back to nordie-nordie land with you?
