ATTENTION ALL POLO PLAYERS
DO NOT BE OVERWHELMED BY THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE! IT'S QUITE EXPLANITORY :D
DCPL is upon us shortly so lets get the show on the road
I have entered two teams of general equal strength into Div. 4 for this season.
The teams are as follows:
UCDCC CRINGECATS:
1 Dave OReilly
2 Helena Coughlan
3 Diarnuid Ryan
4 Derv McAuley
5 Cormac Roche
6 Shannon OHiggins
7 Niall Finch
8 Anne-Marie Videbaek
UCDCC BROWNBEARS:
1 Gareth Toolan
2 Roisin Mossop
3 Garbhan Gorman
4 Eimear Nolan
5 Cillian Totterdell
6 Dani Maguire
7 Evan OKeeffe
8 Aisling Walsh
9 Karen Vejsbjerg
10 Jean Kelly
So, as mentioned before, it'll cost each player €10 to play for this season. A bargain considering the cost of entering a full team. Most of you are on Teamer.net already. I will be trying to modify the accounts to put it into the format of the team lists above soon.
Only 4 people can play at any one time. Taking into consideration the possible attendance of people throughout the year we have decided to make large teams so that on a given night we will always have a full team (+ a couple of subs). In the case of there being so many people available or a situation where players miss a night there is a back up plan. Given the hour of the night at which I am writing this topic I shall explain that later.
I will inform teams of there matches each applicable week. However, as Coach, I strongly advise/DEMAND!!! that each player view and monitor their teams match calendar. All info is available on the DCPL Brownbears Schedule (http://www.dublincanoepolo.ie/timetable.php?div=all&night=all&team=1142) and the DCPL Cringecats Schedule (http://www.dublincanoepolo.ie/timetable.php?div=all&night=all&team=1140)
Please familiarise yourself with this site (It's straightforward): www.dublincanoepolo.ie
I shall be in touch shortly [hopefully... My internet is pants :-\].
PS. Now that Kerry is over, everyone must start a steroid diet asap. >:(
Can't wait! Pay at the board first monday back? And then we're playing the next thursday, yeah? Is that at our pool or out at WW?

Polo watching requires at least one bottle of buckfast per spectator.
It's a brown paper bag situation as there where a lot of kids when I used to play. We used to go to Mc donalds and use the the cups as clever comaflage!
brown paper bags dont work at all!
mcdonalds cups on the other hand, different kettle of fish, well played
Coffee mugs either - they work especially well with beer too cause it foams up - Seen me through many a last day of term ;)
yeah disposable coffee cups are the business, no body suspects the intellectual coffee drinker

If they're at WWKC in Cabra there's a viewing gallery, so yes.
Finch, dave and myself, I think we have a problem that we've a choosen method for drinking in public without appearing to be drinking. I suggest a support group by the lake, bring a bevarage in a container of choice and we'll discuss this further. It's an open meeting to anyone who wants to come along!
After a heavy night last night and being still drunk for an important meeting later I'm not sure it's going to help but I suppose I could wander along...... :P
Ok, I did my best to rearrange the team lists on teamer. So, some of you will get emails asking you to join certain teams again (cringecats / brownbears ). Please respond asap.
If your number isn't up there please add it. You'll get text notifications.
You'll have matches next friday so keep an eye out for notices up here or on fb.
Okay, So here it is:
The matches are as follows-
20.06 - Cringecats vs Gremlins
20.42 - Cringecats vs Epic
21.54 - Brownbears vs Sink or Swim
22.30 - Brownbears vs Va Va Voom
Gremlins weren't bad. Emphasis on the past tense cause they're shocking now and their captain is a cow.
Epic are relatively good. Emphasis on the relatively. It's Div 4, nobody is gonna be that great that we can't beat or at least put up a fight to.
Sink or Swim, says it all really.
Va Va Voom? More like Va Va Shit.
Guys, game faces on Friday. We can do well. Everyone can paddle now and rolling isn't necessary but we can practice on Thursday. Let's get a few wins under our belts! Chune (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVpY_qIPM34&list=PLD323236D8B6BD535&index=13&feature=plpp_video) to pump ye up a bit >:(.
This is a carefully made guide to get you to the pool. Read it. Study it. It could save your life. (http://maps.google.ie/maps/ms?msid=205515937537325376011.0004a0f44ba908d7ad63e&msa=0)
I realise that the Brownbears matches are on particularly late. Not to worry. If you see the map above you will notice that two buses that serve the pool also serve UCD. The timetables for each bus are below:
46a (http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/All-Timetables/46a-/)
39a (http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/All-Timetables/39a-/)
So, you will be able to get buses back to UCD or even Dún Laoghaire if needs be. As anyone who has been to DCPL before will know, games tend to run late [10-30min sometimes] so when you get there, be punctual. That means get on and off the water asap. It's for your own good if ya want to get home early...
When coming from UCD, leave at least an hour before your game starts. Personally I'd leave UCD about 1.15 before a game [when taking the 39a]. If you wish to leave early that's no problemo. I can try to fit people in the earlier game. Remember, TRY. I can't guarantee :-[
Bring togs (preferably shorts) and a t-shirt/rash vest (which is compulsory in order to play).
WATER. Bring the stuff. YOU WILL GET DEHYDRATED!!! :police:
Now, most of you are on Teamer as far as I'm aware. If not confirm your attendance below or on the Teamer message board or whatever. If anyone wants to give me a hand with carrying gear or would like to get the bus with me to the pool, I should be at the Engineering Bus stop around 6.30/45. Any queries, drop me a text @ 0861921473 afro.gif
Bring €10 for reg fees please.
I think that's all for now.
See ye around,
Coach.
