This is the best result that's been achieved by the club in a very long time, possibly since before most of the current committee and freshers were born.
Can't express how proud I am of everyone who gave their all competing, we ranked so highly in every single event we entered (3rd, 3rd, 5th and 2nd) and that is a testament to a team effort on a huge scale.
Also, the instructors who gave their time for varsity specific training over the last month.
And Eoghan O'Riordan, who led the committee through pioneering preparation for the competition and captained the most impressive varsities result in living memory of this generation of the club.

Couldn't have put it any better...
But I am certainly NOT taking any specific praise for this! A total team effort, and I don't want to mention any people in particular because so many people helped but Maryanne (organised instructors and generally pushed the point to try sort out long distance training etc) and Matts (polo drive has now developed enough to start getting results).
Super weekend guys, super effort, only one more step and we'll beat UL on their own turf!!
My day has been a complete write off...oh my god Saturday night won't be repeated for a long time! (Hopefully)

Just a suggestion:
The kayak intervarsities are the largest multidiscipline competition in Ireland. We compete with 16 other colleges in four different events, canoe polo, long distance, whitewater and freestyle. We have always ranked in the top ten colleges this year special emphasis was placed on competing in varsities and it paid off UCDCC came second over all and ranked in the top five in each discipline etc.
Then add a paragraph for each one with a list of medal winners, add a few pictures and send it to college papers this week. Keep a copy and add to your grant proposla for next year. Also link to any local or national media at the event, I-canoes facebook etc.

Not sure about placings, all i know is i was told i came 15th and that Evan was somewhere ahead of me when we rounded the halfway mark!

I was thinking about this last night; just to put Maryanne's list in another order...
1st: Rachel
2nd: Liam
3rd: Cormac & soul-mate
4th: Roisin
5th: Matt
6th: Derv
7th: Eoghan & Jer (I think)
Nice pattern huh?

Once again proper congratulations to everyone invilved, organisers, competitors and supporters!!! Well done guys you did a great job and should be so proud of yourselves!!!

Might I suggest that the club inform the AUC of the result? (Write a 'we are pleased to announce' letter)
It's always good to showcase successes; helps offset the odd boathouse party...

What's a boathouse party, Diarmaid?

What's a boathouse party, Diarmaid?
It's what we used to call a house party in Simon's apartment out by Richview.

Aha Simon, taking the girls back to your place. What a disappointment!
