I just got this email and thought it could be of interest to anyone interested in whitewater paddling combined with things like summertime and fun.
QuoteHi everyone,
Hope everyone is keeping well and gearing up for a great summer. This email is a brief update on the 2012 Canoeing Ireland Alpine Programme. We now have 3 weeks of Alpine courses confirmed and up and running. Ferries have been booked, accommodation arranged and equipment organised. All three weeks will be based in the Soca Valley in Slovenia. Accommodation for all courses will be in a 3 Star Hotel in Bovec at the top of the Soca, only 5 min drive from the most interesting paddling in the valley. This means top notch accommodation and food combined with short shuttle times each day = more time on the water J. The hotel is situated right in the centre of town with short walks to local shops, cafes and bars.
We have two Intermediate 'Alps Essentials' weeks running from Saturday 2nd to Thursday 7th June and from Saturday 16th to Thursday 21st June. These courses have proved to be extremely popular with the latter week already sold out. There are 2 places still remaining in the week of Saturday 2nd to Thursday 7th June so if you or anyone you know is interested please tell them to get in touch quickly as bookings are coming in fast.
We have one Advanced 'Alps Progression' week running from Saturday 9th June to Thursday 14th June. This week will be ideal for anyone who is looking to improve their skills for total control in the Grade 3 river environment and start building some confidence to explore some Grade IV rapids. The Soca valley is the perfect playground to develop some of the more advanced paddling skills in a challenging yet safe environment. Due to 3 late cancellations, 3 spaces have opened up on this course if you know of anyone interested please tell them to get in touch quickly as we don't expect these places to be available for long.
All courses are great value for money and very competitively priced at €1,050 which includes accommodation, food, on site transport, river liscence and of course top notch on the water instruction. Flights to the area, through Venice Treviso, are still cheap at €120 to €150 return with Ryanair depending on the week, but won't stay that way for long. Remember we'll bring all your paddling gear over and back for you so you won't have to pay hefty baggage fairs. I have attached some photo's of our last trip to the Soca valley to whet your palette. Juniors are welcome on any of the courses, please contact the office for more details. Looking forward to seeing plenty of you out there J
If you're interested please fill out and return the attached application form to training@canoe.ie.
You can find more details on our website here (http://canoe.ie/en-us/home.aspx).
Wishing you all the best for your summer activities whatever they might be.
Cheers
