Who: UCD Canoe Club members only
- limited places available
- not neccessarily first come first served:
Applicants should have:
- L3 kayaking skills
and be willing to attend:
- a child protection course
- an RSR2 (or higher) course
- a first aid course
over the coming year if they haven't done so already
What then: club instructors!
everyone who attends this training course will be
Expected to
- teach freshers in the pool during the year
Encouraged to
- log hours on club trips (on flat sections)
- sit an instructor assessment and become a qualified L2 instructor this year
Why:
- L2 Trainee Instructors will be very useful in the pool training plan
- L2 Instructors will be able to work for the club at Dun Laoghaire sessions and in conjunction with other instructors on the flat sections of other club trips
- L2 Instructors will be eligible to attend L3 Instructor Training, this in turn should result in a crop of UCDCC L3 Instructors who could run club trips
If you're interested or have any questions about the pre-requisites please let us know.
If there are more applicants than there are places on the course we will prioritise the applicants who will
- use the training from the course for the benefit of the club
- attend pool sessions to teach
- attend club trips to log hours / teach
Anyone left at the end for whatever reason could organise training for themselves for another weekend, potentially in conjunction woth Trinity, DCU, DIT etc

Me me me!! Although dont have level 3 right now :/
Would it be humanly possible to get a roll and a level 3 before this?
Ask the instructors running it if you have to have the level 3 for the course or for the assesment? Sometimes they let you do the course and part of your homework is to get the level 3. I'd recomend this to anyone it's a great deal.

Get in touch with Bill about level three training! http://forum.ucdcanoeclub.com/index.php/topic,10771.0.html (http://forum.ucdcanoeclub.com/index.php/topic,10771.0.html)
It'd depend on your standard really, in theory if someone was really close to L3 standard then we coudl work around them not having the cert.
Email an application form anyway!

Due to the lack of applications the deadline has been extended.
Apply by September 1st cretins!
Can't do it that weekend, but would definitely do it if it came up again
I won't be in much condition for it the 8th...
This is a seriously good opportunity guys, and to put it in perspective it usually retails at 175 so its the time to do it.

According to my calculations, if you missed Friday you'd still get 86.36% of the course...that's an A!
Send in an application form there Marie ;)
Just been into the Sports Centre to check about a room. They've booked us in provisionally but will have to check whether the weekend manager wants to open early for us and if it would cost anything.

Check the Sylabus (http://canoe.ie/AwardsQualifications/InstructorQualifications/tabid/887/language/en-GB/Default.aspx#_Toc286834513) You don't need everything there but you will need the basic rescue kit. Throw rope, towing system but you'll need access to the other stuff for assessment.
