Alright lads, there are about 10 people coming, so we'll all be able to stay in a boat for the whole pool session.
This is pretty cool!
Get the most out of it - pick something you want to learn or try and give it socks!
I'll be working on stern dipping (cos it's useful and very fun!) and rolling.
Stern dipping:
Turning a boat quickly by dipping the back of the boat (stern) under the water.
You need to lean out of the turn substantially and commit!
Then it's hilarious :)
If anyone would like to learn that then can follow me around as I do it, or ask Diarmuid! He does a very stylish stern dip altogether.
Rolling
Needed for your L3 assessment and for kayaking in general.
Stephen Corkery is coming out tonight and he said he wouldn't mind showing people how to roll or offering some critiques.
I waas thinking of asking him to show us some different rolls you could use for freestyle #projectfreestyle
I once spent a couple of hours on a lake capsizing on purpose every 4th paddlestroke to practice my roll, at the end of the session I felt much more confident about it, I'd thoroughly recommend this!
If you're feeling adventurous you can try different types of rolls each time :)
