An action packed weekend of kayaking!
This is the first time this event has been run, it's festival of kayaking workshops for kayakers of all ability levels from all around the country.
The best instructors in Ireland will be present to coach workshops in every imaginable discipline of kayaking.
How do I Paddlefest?
1) Pick 4 workshops
2) Send in booking form
3) Book accommodation
4) BANTER AND KAYAKING!
A student ticket is €50 and includes
- four workshops
- evening talks
- Saturday night dinner
- Saturday night party
If the event is successful the hope is that it will become an annual event so UCDCC are going to be involved from the beginning!

I'm going, registered early cause I thought we had to before the 15th, then I found out I work on Sunday, so I'll only be there for the Saturday and will take the bus back to Dub on Saturday night I think - going sea kayaking on Saturday :) what time are you driving down on Friday, Dave?
Also, it looks like I might have to fill out a form to borrow a club paddle and club cag and maybe spraydeck - can we use club gear for this and will someone be around the boathouse Friday afternoon? Thanks
you can definitely use club gear Kate, just fill out the gear borrowing form and all will be cool :)
we'll be going to Polo friday anyway so the bh will be open for that
or boathouse tonight, before/after pool session? (I'm thinking about departing tomorrow morning maybe to check out Kilkenny town and act North American but not really b/c no working camera so not a super annoying tourist but kind of a tourist)

Anyone who didn't make it...... you mised out but the good news is that this going to be an annual event, next ones up north.
I would highly recommend this event for next year to anyone who didn't make it this year.
It was fantastic value with four sessions, lunch and dinner, and transport included.
I thought it catered very well for all experience levels; for beginners to those who wanted to build up skill sets in rescue and river running, very qualified and some massively experienced instructors were on hand to teach. For people who might already be confident in these there was also great opportunity to try new disciplines, where there was no responsibility on you and you could concentrate purely on your own paddling.
I know I thoroughly enjoyed myself, I hope everyone else who made it down did to. Definitely going back next year.

I'll second that. It was a fantastic weekend and I got to learn loads of new skills from really experienced instructors. I'd highly recommend this weekend to everyone wether you want to focus on improving your paddling skills or want to try something new, and it was fantastic value for money too. I'm already looking forward to next year.
