Heya, so I'm probably going to be up in Dublin for a couple of days next week with a car hopefully, and I was wondering if anyone has any interest in doing some training for the descent, or just some general long distance training. In the off chance of some rain we could try run stuff on the Liffey, or else just some canal sessions.
I'm not really free in the evening unfortunately, so it would be day time stuff. Anyone interested?

I'm not planning on doing the descent, but I'd be up for a bit of training anyway :) I have a car but no roof racks so will need a bit of help with getting the boat out to wherever

Thesis is finished. Have car. Have roofrack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yljbcRu3tiU

I'm on holidays so unfortunately I can't :(
-
Anyone up for anything tomorrow?
-
Yeah sure :) what are you thinking of?
-
Liffey is low, you could go to phibsborugh and go up the canal, bad at first but you'll be past most of the children throwing stones pretty quickly
-
Liffey is grand for Flatwater stuff just so you know! Perfect for Descent training as there's not much flow :)
-
I'll probably head out to the Grand Canal, I wouldn't bother going to the Liffey only for flat water. I'll be hanging around UCD for an hour or two Aoife, so let me know if you want to come along
-
Let me know what days next week. I may be around depending on my rota at work.
-
It's not worth it for me to drive down to train on the Canal but if you decide to go on the Liffey I'd definitely be up for it. Even scouting dry weirs to see what they look like and also the "jungle" section as I don't know all the weirs in the race. And also, what class have you entered or considering entering Ross (or anyone else)?

Sorry, I won't be around next week, but someone else might...

I'd like to have a scout too, I'm not sure if the Jungle is visible from the bank though :-\
I'm thinking of doing it in a Wavehopper

It isn't an absolute requirement to have scouted the weirs. I'd wait to scout them when the levels are much higher/closer tor race day levels. Scouting when really low could be counter productive.
-
They're pretty clear on how to take the weirs on the day. I did not scout and it was peachy.
-
Grand so, I might still do it just for the flat water training though. And I also plan on doing it in a wavehopper. :P

I did have a plan to do the liffey descent this year but got distracted by something shiny . . .
Anyone around for some flat water paddling or nice training at some stage tomorrow Tuesday or early on Wednesday?

Tomorrow is Wednesday...
but if there is some paddling happening I'm interested :)

The joys of a non standard working week, I seem to have gotten confused as to what day of the week it is :(. I have Wednesday off work and don't have to be in work until 6pm on thursday.
I there is any more interest I can attach roof rack to car and an adventure will be had.
