Yes, we are off on another wild weekend, and this time we'll be joining Trinity (DUKC) for a mad, mad weekend!!!!
WHEN?: 15th-17th November
WHERE?: Lahinch, Co.CLare
HOW MUCH?: The recession busting price of just â,¬50. This will include the bus, accommodation, breakfast and a dinner!
WHAT?: So like last time, we will be heading down on the Friday on the bus from UCD.
Saturday, we will go surfing on the local beach, with the possibility of more on Sunday!!
Saturday night we will have a massive fancy dress party! (that's costumes for all ye Americans :P) the theme this year is.....(Drum roll please....)......UNDER THE SEA!!!!
We have come up with a rule for the weekend. Everybody must bring a drinking vessel with them - the only rule is that it cannot be a cup, a mug, a glass, or anything else that constitutes as a regular drinking vessel. Think along the lines of cones, booties, bowls etc.
So get out your thinking caps, and remember...WE MUST BEAT TRINITY!!!!
THE PLAN!!!
The bus will be leaving UCD at 6pm Friday!!!
It will be leaving from the bus stop at the 'sports cafe' end of the student centre (by the sports centre carpark, where we got the bus to Middleton) If you think you are going to be late, please ring a committee member (my number is 0831074285) to let us know! If you are there early we'll be meeting up in the bar for a while before hand :)
What to bring:
Clothes!!! (obviously, but you never know....)
Paddling gear!!! (that's thermals, thermals and more thermals!!!)
Fancy dress costume!!!!(This years theme is 'Under the Sea'!)
Sleeping bag (if you have one)
Drinking vessel!!!(this is compulsory...even if your not drinking alcohol!!! We mean anything that doesn't usually count as an item for drinking from!)
Alcohol for the bus!!! (please avoid cans if you have small bladder syndrome ;P )
Spending money!!!(this will be for the nightclub on Saturday, alcohol, any snacks that you may want along the way)
Dinner will be provided on Saturday night and Breakfast in the mornings!
Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements before we go, so we don't kill you :PThe trailer pack will be tomorrow from 12 to 4! If you want to go kayaking over the weekend (don't deny it!! You wan't to go kayaking...) you must go to the boathouse between those times to pack a boat!
If you can't make it please let Diarmuid (0870619037) or Deividas (0871300140) know tonight/ before 12 tomorrow and tell them your full name, general height/dimensions and what boat you've used before (this way you wont have a boat that is far too small for you when your down there!) The trailer is leaving at 4 so be there on time!!!

The trailer also has to be packed. This will happen on the day between 12-4! If you cannot make it, ask someone (Deividas or anyone else on the committee) to pack a boat for you. Let them know of your dimensions and what boat you have paddled before.

I was going to write a post with a timeline of phases and moods of Lahinch where each list item was a link to a different version/cover/parody/remix of the song...but I think that's an unacceptably indulgent and time consuming level of procrastination.

What - over excited initial reaction to being at a canoe club party: first taste of alcohol in weeks and you realise you're going away from college for a whole weekend. The resulting surge of adrenalin makes for an intoxicating night in extreme cases leading to needing to go to bed when you get to Lahinch and/or extra naps on Saturday

What - the nightclub went from totally empty to filled with everyone from a 20km radius, somebody's having a hen night, the club is covered in bits of fancy dress costumes, there's not long left until the place closes and then the song you requested as a shout out to the club hours before comes on

I put a few photos on line. Generally it wasn't a successful weekend taking photos ( too much drizzle). Some might recollect a dense fog that was not conducive for photos either way not that many to go on line. Feel free to use the group photos for the club FB banner.
