Title: Boathouse Cleanup
Post by: Diarmuid on April 25, 2016, 14:14:50
It's that time of year again.

We'll be hosting the annual Boathouse Cleanup on Sunday (1st May), starting at 10am.

This is where we count all our gear, throw away the broken stuff and generally put the boathouse back into a respectable state.

Lies! This year we might actually cook them and not just char the outside and pretend they're cooked

They were fully cooked, just the last second there was a grease fire and so i could do nothing but watch them char. Nonetheless the other batch were lovely

Are there any boats to be repaired that day? I presume we will re-glue the foam in the yellow pool boat?

The G3 needs a bit of work on the seat anyway. I'm not sure after that

I'm not sure that I'll make it as I think I'm staying in Wicklow after Jacskonsfest.

If the pool boats are being taken out of the pool might I suggest someone also works on taking the knots out of the backband string on the tree playboats as the knots are extremely tight and they make it difficult to get into the boat with the correct foam foot blocks. I think the yellow one actually needs one of the cleats taken off to remove a knot which has been pulled in behind it.

Just as suggestion to get it done before people look to use them over the summer or for next year :)

All club buoyancy aids need to have their buoyancy tested also.

The number of usable paddles the club has needs to be checked also.

I broke the seat in the Canadian. Need new big washers to fix. Will try and remember. Any idea of how to test for the buoyancy?

As a rule of thumb, I believe that if it doesn't float, it is not suitably buoyant

There are large-ish washers in the boathouse. Post up a picture of the break and I'll say if they are big enough.
