Thinking ahead to Galway Fest on the 2nd - 4th of March. Is this something the club van would be going to? I'm trying to plan the next few months of paddling weekends, hence asking so soon?
-
I'd be interested, so probably interested in sticking my boat in on that too
-
I'd also be interested. Would be ideal to get the van.
-
I am interested, Van would be handy!!
-

So who's actually going, and also needs a place to stay... Try organise accommodation like.
- Me
- Mark
- Anna-May
- Greg

Peter(With trinity)Ailbhe (staying with Liam)- ...

WIT are staying in a b&b in Galway. Think its 36 per person for them. But if we join them the price goes down for us all as we would be a bigger group

I'm sorted for accommodation. Trinity Dan booked for me.
-
That could work Mark, we'd get breakfast too

Hmmm, there's 6 of us anyways 🤔

At least you will get a T-Shirt?
-
Some consolation
-
I was gonna go for a b&b on my own, but if there is a group going id rather join ye
-
Van booked with Jayne as a 2nd driver. It will cost about 70 for rental and 75 for fuel and tolls. I suggest the club charges people 10 euro per boat for the weekend to cover the costs. One seat free if anyone wants a lift.
-
I'll also be driving a car up if people need lifts
I wont need a place to stay though afro.gif

Okay so then at the minute theres 8 of us for accommodation. Ailbhe is that too much for Liams, it is his family house. Wouldn't be too much effort to sort a hostel or b&b so no pressure on him.

Thats unreal! Give him our thanks Ailbhe

Forgot to say I'm registered so will be going also 😁
-
So who wants their boat(s) , bags or paddles in the van? Keeping in mind it will probably be 10 euro per boat to cover the costs.
Peter O'S 1 ckeeker , 1 playboat
Ailbhe T 1 creeker
Simon 1 creeker + learner sticker + pyjamas.
Annamay : 1 creeker.
Ross : 1 creeker.
Jacqui : 1 creeker
...
I'll make a plan for loading when I know how many I'm taking. Aiming to leave Dublin around 10.30 on Friday morning to get some playboating in.
-
Just my creeker plz
-
So the plan is boathouse for 10.00 on Friday morning, aim to leave by 10.30. Drive straight to Spiddal for a run of the Boluisce. Probably getting on the water around 14.00. Finishing there around 16.00. Drive back to Spanish arch and if time allows freesytle practice on the Corrib. Who wants a lift in the van?
If I park my car on campus on Friday, do I need a permit or can I just pay for parking?
-
I can go down with you Peter and think its just Greg and Jacqui going down that early as well

Only some spots are pay and others you need permit. The sports one is pay and so is the one beside Centra, that's it I think.
I will probably head later, aiming to go to the talk though so leave UCD at like 4? I am driving and have space
-
I can drive, but will be leaving after work, so unless there are a few people going that late, I might put my boat in the van and get the train there and a lift back.

I believe there is paid parking for 3 euro per day, although unknown if you can find it. Might be easier for someone to transfer their permit to you for the day if someone has one. It's pretty straight forward.
-
Or park in Drumbeg and get Greg to give you a lift into UCD
-
Yes that works
-
I'll give the transport office a call around 14.00 tomorrow to see if the van is still available for rental. Hard to guess exactly what the snow will do.
-
Im guessing Galway fest will still be going ahead. Anyone anything to say on the likely hood of that changing?

Think they'll be changing a bit of the schedule... But not cancelling. Keep an eye on the Galway Fest Facebook page
-
It's been postponed to the Easter Weekend
-
I phoned UCD transport to cancel van booking. Kind of glad I'm not driving a van up snow back roads in Spideal tomorrow.
-
Wonder if now that's it's postponed that they could possibly have more entries...?
-
Hey champs! We have 6 beds going in our accommodation due to people not being able to make the new date, give me a shout if you want to take advantage if this limited time offer! Full cost would be €45 per night.
-
Oh cool thanks Andy. Were not 100% sure on numbers yet but probably closer to 10 so we'll see if we can get some place that fits all of us first
-
no worries, ye can probably take it and divide the cost down a bit between ye, its a 6 bed apartment. so there is a bit of freedom for some people to take sleeping bags etc.
-
Where is it?
-
I've been asked about parking and such, last year we parked in the car park marked, I cannot remember the cost but it wasn't unreasonable. I've highlighted the apartments as well, though you still enter through the front door. At the apartments there is a side/fire door, handy for getting extra people in.
Sleepzone's website suggest you can checkin from 3pm onwards. they have a waiting room and bag storage if you arrive early anyway. The rooms are booked under my own name. Oh and they take a €20 cash deposit from every one (so 6 of ye).
Any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Dates for next year announced as March 8-10
