That's supposed to be a suprise on sunday morning when you run around asking people to go paddling then say long distance. When people go I don't want to do that you point out they are registered and can't pull out without costing the club points.

Its not that long, I did it in my first year, its a good laugh when you're not taking it seriously. As long as you can paddle in a straight line you'll be grand!
Title: Re: Intervarsities: Flatwater Race

Ahh its not that long, i did it last year while really really sick!!! It would have taken less time if i didnt help rescue the girl beside me who swam at the starting line ::) (dont worry she wasn't one of us!)

Jody that makes it even more worrying. First Sara helps someone, now I find out you did. Compete, people, compete! seriously!

We are hoping to do well this year, not just goober about, so are there any applicants who actually want to paddle quickly and non-stop? please?

I couldnt help it she wouldnt let go of my boat..... wait thats a good idea lets just stop any fast paddlers from other clubs by swimming!!! 8) I still managed to beat all the other ucders in the catagory but we were all pretty close to the end :-[ :-[ :-[

Diarmid, the rules of the competition say if someone swims near you, you're required to help them or you get disqualified

Post by: Sick Boy on January 31, 2007, 12:40:56
yah alf, it will be done in just regular kayaks, if i can get my racers back off the pickey ba*+ards who took em then some people will use them.

just so you are under no illusions i would not in a fit even appempt to tie a canadian to a trailer to haul it to letterkenny. also the topoduo has been all but retired.

But don't you have to enter all parts of the competition?
And ye are a canoe club so showing up without a canoe might be a bit well odd.
Title: Re: Intervarsities: Flatwater Race
Post by: kmck on January 31, 2007, 14:03:19
There are a number of catagories in flatwater. Gp will be what most people will do, however the club has more chance of points the greater the different number of ones it enters. Canadian needs two sometimes three as you know from the liffey descent. The rest are gp (general purpose)
