Well folks,
Mickle will be giving a talk on the evening of Tuesday 19th February. Room and time TBC.
From the horses mouth:
"It is a short overview of factors that need to be considered with first aid in mind for kayaking, and an overview of the emergency situations that can occur. I will go over the new standards for CPR (2006which might be new for those with older qualifications"
This is well worth going to, especially if you are out paddling a lot. In particular a lot of you will have done some kind of first aid course before 2006, so the CPR you may have been thought will be out of date. (Note: This is not a piss up.)
Mickle has also asked me to guage interest in a 3 day (over the weekend) first aid course.
Mickle's description of the course:
"It's in conjunction with this crowd; http://www.sportscareacademy.com/ It is for people who haven't done first aid before and is equivalent to a REC 2. It costs 150 euro per person , minimum of 12, max 16. The reason I am pushing this is I think it's a good standard, and will be well recognised in Ireland in the near future."
Note that the cost will be subsidised by the club by up to 50% (75 Euros).

Sounds great, might also be good to note that this would be a serious and really informative talk with lots to remember so maybe keeping the cans and buckie till after the talk would be a good idea?
