Please make sure and sign up for the Saturday trip thread if you are going because if their aren't enough people signed up I will Cancel the trip.
The club have been unable to find accommodation for after this years ball so now there are 2 remaining options:
Camp if the weather is good or hire a bus to bring us back to dublin (stopping at belfield and city centre).
If you are interested in getting the bus back please post up here.
Tickets for the ball are still available from Cian or Joxer.
-
Camping'll be fine - you'll be too drunk to notice the fact that your tent is in a river and your dress/tux is covered in mud ;)
-
Yeah there's a good spot down by the get-off at jacksons, would also make a savage spot for an afterparty!!
-
yey i do like after parties!!!! woot woot!!
skrew coming back to dublin - find a field!!!!
-
There is also a number of B&Bs in the area
http://www.bigboatbonanza.com/accomm.htm (http://www.bigboatbonanza.com/accomm.htm) There is also glendalough hostel which is a half hour walk from lynhams. I have a room in lynhams which can be used by the girlies to get ready in, just leave it clean enough for me to sleep in later. The lads there is a toilet for you guys.
-
cool i'm up for some camping! so long as i can leave my dress in someone's hotel room/ car so i dont ruin it >:(
-
IMPEACH!!!!
-
impeach. but beyond that, camp, bus, whatever.
-
honestly we're not fussy just organise something and the people will come!!!!!
-
yea what about the hostel that we stayed in for varsities??? this smells of oh crap we forgot to bother looking for accomidation and now the ball is two weeks away........ooops.
come on pull the finger out!
you dont want to go down as the worst commitee in history........ever
if it comes to accepting that your the worst commitee in history then what ever bus.
-
Hi Guys,
You could book independently into Glendalough hostel, don't mention UCD, If everyone booked in there, maybe a bus could be arranged to bring you back
http://www.glendaloughinternationalhostel.com/
There is also a hostel in Rathdrum http://www.hostels-ireland.com/microsite.php?MailingListID=19
or rent a house

are UCD people thinkin about stayin in B&B's?
if a few of us from trinity go we'll prob stay in a local one....
-
Before i even mentioned UCD Canoe Club Glendalough said that they were full. Myself Cian and Pia have spent a while trying to find somewhere, and we haven't managed.
No Simon, we didn't start looking for ball accommodation in the last few days, we've been looking since the start of term. All the usual spots have been booked out for freakin yonks.
There are also shedloads of B and B's available that arent that expensive, unfortunately the club cant stay in a B and B for obvious reasons.
If you are looking at the place kerry linked they'll probably take you, just dont mention ath you are students or that you are there for the ball. (Contact is a guy called christy)
-
I´ll be staying in a hostel in Peru. It´s funkey and they love parties. You just put your beer on the tab. It´s about 1euro a night but you will probably get a discount if you book as a group. ;)
-
Camping sounds savage. A bit of hard core can only add to the buzz.
-
Yeah lets go hard core for this years ball..... me & Amanda shall be building a fort in our hotel room none of this luxury for us :D
-
think me riona ali and barbie will do the same in our room!!! None of this pansy bed shit!!
-
if your givin up your bed Ash i'll take it off your hands no prob!! :P
-
looks like its good old hotel fiat punt for me.
-
I'm going to stand outside the hotel all night, smoking and drinking buckfast. Then I'll bum a lift home in the morning.
you're all welcome to join me.
-
I hear from a few sources that marks a damn lier................
-
Are you trying to wind me up?
-
I don't think I'm going to the ball for financial reasons, but I think I might join Zacchaeus...
I'm going to stand outside the hotel all night, smoking and drinking buckfast.
It's the most concrete plan I've heard for the night
-
no. lets just say i've heard somethings.
-
I will have to say I am taking exception to the idea that there is no concrete plan for the ball. The people invovled have been planning since before christmas.
I quote from Dr. joxer
Its ball time again. Time to dust off your best clothes. The Canoe Club ball will be held in Lynaham's Hotel Laragh on Saturday 1st of March.
Drinks reception at 7.30 pm
Dinner will be served at 8pm sharp.
Tickets cost €50 per person and must be purchased by Monday Feb 25th. There will be no tickets available on the night.
As a special offer, if you purchase 8 tickets in advance (a table) you get an extra free bottle of wine with that table.
Tickets can be purchased from me Joxer Dunne 0872429349, Niamh "The party pooper" Banks 0872934624 or Cian "I look sexy in a dress" Lyons 0861988050 from Monday 28th Jan
If you wish to stay in the hotel, just mention you are staying for the ball, as they are holding the rooms for us.
There then are number of posts by Joxer and cian in relation to tickets. The problem this year has been finding a venue for people after the ball. I know that the lads have been busting there asses off to find somewhere but have hit a number of problems. Suggesting camping is not a bad idea as it is very cheap and could be alot of fun.
Since lynhams is booked out it suggests that there was more than enough information for people to make their own plans for after the ball.
I understand that 50 euro for a ball and then whatever you spend on booze/tux/booze is alot when varsities is beside it as well. It has been in previous years one of the highlights of the club year for me and many others. What I don't understand is claiming that there are no concrete plans when many people have down huge amounts of work in putting it on. There rant over! mumble mumble mumble rawr rawr I'm a bear.
Simon we all signed that contract not to bring up Mark's you know what in front of you know who. Unless you won the euro millions the litigation would be a nightmare.
-
i hear KMCK is a damn lier as well at sounds like hes bed buddies with the rest of them.....

I'm in the same.... wait for it.. the same boat ;)
Oh I went there!
-
Just called glndalough b and b. there are three spaces for girls there.
-
space for 3 girls standing outside lynhams all night, smoking and drinking bucky. any takers?
-
Probably have space for one more in our hotel room????? :)
-
dibs if it gets cold or boring out in the car park.
-
There will be a strict interview process inplace on the night..... buy me lots of booze. ;D
-
Ahh yes, good auld "score - to - snore"
Those were the days of the Meager Twins...
I see a possible come-back of "score - to - snore" at this year´s ball.
-
oh i get it now the committee are doing this on purpose. they thought we were getting too boring and want to keep us on our toes. maybe they think the freshers are getting it too easy, i mean, i think there was a proper bed for everyone on freshers weekend. wasnt like that in my day >:(
i think it will be the carpark for me this year :(
-
the freshers are getting it too easy, i mean, i think there was a proper bed for everyone on freshers weekend. wasnt like that in my day >:(
I had a comfy bed on the floor between two beds......had a pair of boots for a blanket and Pias bee suit for a pillow.....had to relinquish it when I woke up so she could wear it to the shop..... ;D
Good times I tell ya...good times...

-
Any room anywhere that I could grab?
-
score to snore karen score to snore!!
-
Damnit towel! You beat me to it. Karen, these are wise words...and also your best bet. :P
-
Or "scor to keep warm" is also a very good tactic in weather like this.
-
Simon we all signed that contract not to bring up Mark's you know what in front of you know who. Unless you won the euro millions the litigation would be a nightmare.
Did Mark's willy fall off or something??
No wait, Mark never had a willy?

suck it up, johnny. I had emmet's beer-soaked foot for a pillow on a wooden floor in my freshers' weekend. now that was a true freshers' weekend - no beds at all, just one big scout hall with sex tents in the back. also no showers, and by the end no working toilets.
-
bring that shizzle back :) it'd be awesome!!!
