Where you should probably look cool and protect your head. Check it out, these guys do custom helmets, bidding means you could get it real cheap...

Yes, most are functional and will not be damaged by water. However, some of the helmet art is not properly protected and may need additional work (Clear coating) to the art work to protect from water damage. Of course all can be damaged by impacts.
