Just to let everyone know, tonight will be th last pool sesssion til semester two, and this saturday is the last official club trip before kerry... So lets make them good ones ;-)!!!
I'm thinking of running some more L4 and L3 training in and around the few days after exams finish and before christmas day(20th dec - 24th dec). Any freshers interested in getting your level 3 and are avaliable around the days i just mentioned, p.m. me or post up here and i'll arrange a training session, same goes for people looking for L4 training.
Roger, your favourite ginger officer.
-
id be up for l4 training but i might be busy arround those days with work and college. still ill make it if i can.
-
I'd be up for l4 training but won't be around then. Put after New Years. (Or in Kerry?)
-
Yeah i have thought about L4 training in kerry, only i have very limited knowledge on the rivers there, but i'll get on to a few of the lads and see what we can do.
-
Anything I can do to get out, I will do! I'm in Dublin for the entire Christmas period till Kerry.
Anyone want to take me paddling?
-
I will!!!
Anyway, you have a boat, all the gear you need, a driving licence and access to a car with roof-racks. How about you take some of us paddling?
-
id say most people you get to instruct for a l4 training would have a very good knowledge of the suitable rivers in kerry.
-
Would you want to get into a car with me driving? Specially to mountains and such?
I wouldn't...
-
YES!!!
-
Gimme a shout if you guys want to get out over the christmas.
-
Cheers Mr. Jelly, I hop very much to take you up on that.
-
ill be around after the exams too if anyones headin out
-
Yeay, paddling! ;D
-
I want to get a good bit of paddling in before Xmas if people are about let me know!!
Also, sign me up for L4 training please!
-
I'd be up for level 3 training.......doesn't really seem to be a huge demand for it though!! :-\
-
I'd be up for level 3 training, about time i guess. I don't wantt mr. Scully getting his Level 3 before me.
I'm sure he'd be up for it too. I'll be around for paddling in Wicklow from 23rd - 27th December.
-
sounds like there shall be loads of boating.
-
I'd be up for some training but not sure i'm at a good enough level yet............
-
The point of the training is to get you up to the level. You wouldn't have to do an assessment or anything.
-
Sounds good then - I assume there'll be club boats available ?? And how much does it cost ??
-
When's the Level 5 training 8)

Level 3 training is generally on the Saturday trips. One of the instructors will do it and just take 5 minutes here and there to teach you all the new things that you need to know.
When's the Level 5 training
Good luck with getting that organised by the club :P
-
Cool - its just if Rodge is running it after exams.....
-
keep an eye on the board and make sure roger knows you want to do the training. that whay when he has the trining organised there is a better chance he will contact you.
-
Will do El Capitano - Thanks
-
Do you have your level 2 yet? I maybe persuaded to do a day of flatwater mayhem to get you guys a level 2.
-
I wouldn't mind a level 2.
-
Ask santa for one, that's how I got mine ;)
-
For all you L3r's there are definately enough people that would like to do L3 training, i'll organise a session for maybe the 21st, 22nd, or 23rd, same for L4 people, and as for jody and your L5 training... I'll c u on the flesk... There will(if i have anything to do with it) be lots of boating before christmas.
-
, and as for jody and your L5 training... I'll c u on the flesk...
ha ha cheers Rog!!! I look forward to it.
On a serious note. What are peoples experiences of the Flesk Jam? Might be a bit of fun to take part.... is it too ambitious though?

id be up for that :D

Here is some rivers that are very doable as used to be regular club trips
Grade 3+ rivers in Kerry
Upper Caragh
Owenroe
Gearharmeen
Middle Roughty if you walk the slots.
Clydagh
Easy rivers
Lower Caragh
Lower Flesk
-
wow, it's not often I can see a list of rivers and say I've done 3 of them.
of course, we walked off two of those...
-
Owenroe is off this year due to large numbers of fish getting it on, there is a notice on irishwhitewater. There others are fine if start early in the morning if your only heading out at 11 stick to an easy bimble down the lower caragh.
-
now i dunno whats in L3 bu if id definitely b interested in doing some training
-
w00p it's Saturday trip time!

hey, im well up for that!!
i posted up on irish freestyle and they said they're finilising the details at the moment......Have been told its grade 4 sections with lotsa rescue so im there! :)
see u there??
-
'lots of rescue'
Ha!
I did it the year before last, they rescues my boat and threw a rope high up into a tree (unfortunately i wasnt in the tree). I had the worse swim ive ever had throug the gates o the flesk. But i'm pretty sure that was just seriously bad luck and rescue will be much better. Like, I'd say ill do it again this year.

Shall think about it so.
Might be too ambitous to be racing the first time i have even seen it.
-

so givis a call!!! 8)

ah sure feck it. the first time i'll see it is the day of the competition, can always opt out then if its too much/too high etc
-
I assume it's on the Gates section at the Flesk put-in. Am I right Sara? If so, Jody you are well able for it. There are two sections where it's easy to need a roll but in both cases it's at th bottom of a drop in easy water. The first time I saw it was a race aswell. Only way to go. Try to be hungover aswell, for tradition's sake.
-
yep its the section at the put in, little bit of flat followed by a drop then some flat then the rapids.
