Myself lambe and Mat are up for paddlin on Friday, anyone else interested?
-
Yup
I have an 11 o'clock lecture though .
So lets go at 12...
-
Cool that should be fine if we get out of UCD fairly quickly.
-
I'd like to go, unless it's a hard river or I'm not good enough. I'll be real quiet. I want to paddle a bit more to get my skillz up. If you don't want the burden or if there's no room I don't mind. :(
-
I suppose I'll come along if I have to ::)
I have a class till 12 so I can head after that
-
i finish at 11, would love to get out, all i need is a lift :-*
-
It all depends on how much you turst, roger, lambe and matt. You need your level 3 to borrow gear according to the code of practice.
-
curses! i just remembered i have work at 5 on friday. count me out so >:(
-
You don't need ur level 3 to borrow gear, i don't think anyway
-
So can I go? What river is it? I'll clean up after myself aswell, no foolin.
I don't have the car though. Unless we are going at 2, ha!!
-
Hey guys, i have an assignment in at 3, can we go then.
Or maybe you guys can drop all the boats to wicklow, then come back and collect me!!
Im actually finished at 10, so DIBS!
-
roger code of practice states you need your level 3 to borrow gear, and that the river is appropriate to your level. Surfing is a very grey area as I think this is where you may have gotten confused.
-
So far we still need another driver to do a full river, at the moment it'll have to be sluice
-
You can borrow gear once you get all the committee people to sign stuff. Clarkey you can do some driving right? So there...we have two cars. I'm up for trying some Sluice...never had a session at sluice.
-
Clarkey is carless Juice
-
carless or careless?
-
Car-less but you decide ;)
-
Maybe, she's carless as a result of being careless??
-
Unless you have rewritten the code of practice you can't lend gear to anyone without them having a level 3, I strongly advise you guys to read it since you have been allowed to lend gear again.
-

Were you ever in my car when i was in a rush??
definitely sounds like you were!
-
No but I was in the car while u were driving from o'neills to doyles one night, killian was turning the steering wheel left and right turning the hazards on and the likes, and u didn't seem to mind too much...
-
Why the hell were you driving from O'Neills to Doyles??? Thats just pointless!

Have you walked it lately, it's like 50miles away!!!
You stand a chance of getting a little sober on the walk ;D
-
No i haven't... I haven't been in town since before Christmas... maybe they moved it since then!
-
Jodes, i was on my way home, just passing that way and gave 'em a lift.
Anyway
That would have been my mammys car..... i do not take risks in it.
No, i mean PROPER RUSHED, like the time i did................actually public forum, i wont admit to anything!!!
-
Ahh ... ok, its just a bit unlike you to be going home on a thursday night instead of to Doyles. I guess thats what final year does to you :P

I look forward to hearing this story...
... Anyway back to the topic at hand, Clarkie, do u have a car with roofracks accesible to u this friday?
-
Clarkie, do u have a car with roofracks accesible to u this friday?
Well, the answer was HELL YES.... til someone pointed out that it's....
ENG DAY!!!
on friday, so i strongly suggest everyone to ditch the paddle (go sat instead) and come drinking with me.... 10am stephens green!!!
and when i say strongly suggest i actually me FORCE, by means of alcohol-induced-comas!!!
-
Hmm, is anyone up for a bit o' Sluicage a little later in the afternoon, about two maybe?
-
I may be up for sluice but it would be around 10/11
-
It's Eng day people - no water on Eng Day!
-
Seconded
I'll see you at 10 in Stephan Green or around there ;D
(Or just come to the bar after enjoying your paddling for the day - either one is good ;))
-
ok. So is there paddlin or no?
-
More than likely sluice :)
-
Yeah I'll be headin out to sluice
-
I might have a driver... Still up for wicklow?
-
I dunno rog, i wouldn't mind a bit of a sluice session. I thought you wanted to try the new boat at sluice anyway??
-
Ah yeah i supppose ur right mat, we'll hed to sluice
-
i might make it to sluice... if i fix my bike... and there's definite water, not cycling three hours for flat water!!!
-
That'd be hillarious dave, watching you curse your way thorough flat-water loops.
Anyway, I think that after lunch is definataely the way to go.
-
Don't know if I'll be able for Sluice. Might give it a miss!!!

Na, earlier the better!
-
Not for me though! Kyle I think that you should be more flexible.
Damnit Kyle!

Just like your mother then?
Only you better keep all your clothes on.
Damnit Kyle!
-
Just like your mother then?
I wouldn't know my friend, I wouldn't know!
-
You're not from Roscommon then?
-
Thanks for bringing me out lads!! Didn't think I would be able to do a 120 spin wobble womble but I did. Don't think we'll be seeing one of them for awhile!!
-
Did you pull off a splitsnip, Leighton? :D
-
I did indeed!!! Was amazing my man!!
-
kieren, how sure are you about that? is it in the main body of the document or the appendices?
-
Well two reasons, I was there when it was voted in and that was the agreement, now if someone wants to go to dun laorghie or sandycove I'm sure the level 2 would do, however you need your level 3 to go on the boyne and rivers like that because you follow ICU guidelines. If you put yourself in the position of assessing the level of a paddler yourself you really are opening a can of worms for yourself.
-
I was there when it was voted in and that was the agreement,
Woh, you were talking about a can of worms!!! If it isn't explicitly stated, well 'nuff said - you might get away with it by quoting ICU guidelines. Jeez, you would imagine by agreeing a minimum compulsory assessed personal proficiency level to borrow club gear you would have at least said what the bloody level was.
Edit: sorry that reads as a bit personal, that wasn't directed at you Kieran. It was more general disbelief...
-
Edited due to the fact it was a big rant, huge and in the end won't solve anything. Simply put if you chose to lend gear you make yourself responsible for them. If you use your governing bodies rules as your guideline you are following best practice. So if you instead make up some system its yours and yours alone. Feel free to ignore this advice and my interpretation of the code of practice. Since we adopted the code of practice, this has been the way it has been run since then.
-
pretty sure all the lads have there own stuff.....
