Does anyone know what the golden falls release thing on the Liffey website is? Its only been online a couple of days. http://www.liffeyreleases.com/ (http://www.liffeyreleases.com/)

It's another hydro-electric plant, further upstream. Somewhere around here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=golden+falls&sll=53.41291,-8.24389&sspn=6.26323,14.0625&g=ireland&ie=UTF8&ll=53.126689,-6.605701&spn=0.049236,0.109863&t=h&z=13). I'm not sure how much relevence it has to canoeing though, unless you're doing the Liffey descent.

Golden Falls is the hyro section of the liffey at between lakes in Blessington and Ballymore Eustas. Its releases very regularly and affects the section of the liffey up to lexslip dam. The sections of the liffey that most people paddle that it affects are around Kilkcullen and newbridge. Not too much to get exited about really. The only fun thing about it is that as it releases so regularly all you hear is a siren while on the water and the river floods moments later.
