In an attempt to stop all the errors that are happening with the site, I've installed a completely unmodified and up to date version of the forum's software - SMF.
This is a temporary fix, but hopefully it'll stop the errors you've been experiencing whilst using the board.
If you come across anything strange, or across any of the old errors, please let me know in this thread. The site content (committee page, about us, boathouse map etc.) are gone for now.

It's never going back too the old site anyway.
SMF 1 (what we had) did a lot of strange things, most worryingly to the database (with some data lost). It also did a really bad job of handling sessions (all those session verification failed errors). It even intermittently lost connection to the database, even when the mysql server was running fine.
If I don't have the same issues with SMF2, and can integrate a gallery package with it, then I guess we may aswell hold onto it.
-
Strangely I never had any issues with the old site. New look's nice and fresh though.
-
i think your new site is lovely
HI BILL! :)
-
I'm still getting session verification problems when i log out... although it is eventually letting me log out which is an improvement on what was going on with the last site.
:)
Good stuff Mark.
Is the content of the old gallery still around anywhere? Would be a shame if it was all lost :(
-
I downloaded the pictures it had stored on the hosting, its sitting on my hard drive at the moment.
Edit: Although a lot seem missing...
-
was the gallery working? i never was able to use it
-
It was before you turned up Eoghan :P
-
Bring back the Cast of Thousands!!
-
I have the cast of thousands here, but i might not upload them :) I don't think putting them in a gallery again is a good idea in this age of companies googling your name, but if the people want them, I will stick a temporary passworded file full of them on the site.
-
aw pewp marq! What about a permanent passworded file :P
-
Well most people in the cast of thousands have nicknames or board user names can't imagine needing to use most peoples full names for it
-
Yup, removed all full names from the filenames. (mostly first names / nicknames now)
Twill have to wait til i find a half decent gallery mod for SMF though :)

I didn't notice a 'show unread posts' button... is it there?

I didn't notice a 'show unread posts' button... is it there?
its under where it says "Hello Diarmud!" at the top of the page
took me a while to find that
-
ah
good thing anyway that I already took the fiendish step of bookmarking the show all unread posts page instead of the front page.
