Jim, when's the next blog entry? I've been waiting with baited breath for it but now feel lonely and despondent. Also why are there tomatoes at the bull run ^-^

Is that the Palguin 70footer? I can't upload the vid for some reason. Isn't that the fall you landed upside down? My problem with Steve is that he only shows videos of the times he lands upright. He probably swam on the drop four times before that. here I said it!

kmkc - The next blog entry is delayed 18 months for various reasons, so now you know. You say tomato, I say shut up about the tomotoes.

kill - Yes, that's the Palguin 70footer, although it was smaller than that when we were there. And yes, I 'landed' it upside down. Speaking of which, how's Australia? Apparently Steve Fisher ran it 18 times for that video. You can see him seal-launching in below the first drop. What a girl. He's fairly rubbish alright. He's made to look good with mirrors and string. He can't actually paddle at all.

Yea I was wondering about that. What's the crack with the drop before the 70footer?

OK, The drop before the one in Fisher's video is about 3 metres maybe, and it's good to go of itself (right to left, going hard) but if you screw it up you only have a short pool to sort yourself out. This is the first drop:

The drop featured in Fisher's run is the second drop, which is now bigger than when we ran it because of an earthquake (we were the last group to run it in the old configuration). The third drop was the largest one when we were there (I landed *that* one upside down and it gave Simon a black eye).

Our video is here, first drop at the two-minute mark:

It's slightly less glossy than the Red Bull one, but far more heartfelt.

"Simon had to jump because he didn't make coffee for me in the morning!" Nice quote Jim.

I only made reference to your upside down landing (which took a skill few people have the guts o replicate) because you were so quick to mention Simon's black eye and let's face it, Simon could kick Steve's ass in any paddling comp.

I have no video evidence to add to the fray because some f*cker stole my camera at the end of my trip in Pucon. I had actually bailed out of my boat before I hit the bottom but then decided to get back into my boat, put on my spray deck an do a couple aerial flips before landing cleanly at the bottom but, as I say, I've no video evidence.
