Title: PoLo stuff for the rest of the season.
Post by: Douchier on October 20, 2010, 16:29:53
Okie-doke, so the rest of the timetable is up for the rest of the season, making it a little easier to make plans about things.

Dodder Rats - Div.4
05/11 - Two games.
19/11 - two games.
10/12 - two games + Duty

UCD - Div.5
12/11 - Two games (also duty team; put-up goals, take scores etc.)
26/11 - two games
07/01 - two games

Full timetable here (http://www.ucdcanoeclub.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=9655.0;attach=530)

The two obvious problems above are the going to be Colligan Games ( 13th November) and Colours ( I think this is the weekend of the 19th november)

The matches on the 12th (UCD) aren't on  too late and should be finished by about ten. I think that's early enough to get a good nights sleep before heading down or even to drive down after. We're  also on duty for that night, so it might be bad form to not show- what do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure that Lahinch is going to be on from the 19th (Dodder Rats), but perhaps the people involved wouldn't mind missing out on the friday and heading down on the saturday? The matches are on early - should be finished by nine - which could be early enough for a really eager person to drive.

Also...training!

We seem to be doing this on a bit of an ad-hoc/seldom basis at the moment. I think that we should look again at regular training and especially at doing training at Wildwater. Myself and Maryanne were out there a few weeks ago and it's a much better venue that allows for much better training.

A rough table of what we know so far... please post up to fill in blanks or correct mistakes

Vis-a-vis and regarding the Lahinch weekend:

I'm on good terms with the equipment officer who could pack the Div 4 team's kayaking gear into boats in the trailer on Thursday/early Friday, thus freeing enough room in the car for five people+other gear (clothes etc) to travel in acceptable comfort to a destination such as Lahinch...
     Team bonding road trip?

Possible hiccups: if my sister starts learning to drive I may not have the car that weekend
Otherwise, plan?

Vis-a-vis and regarding training
     The list is right for me: Wed N, Wed-eve Y, Fri Y (with two exceptions), Fri-eve Y, Sun Y, Sun-eve Y

im good for training wed evenings friday evenings and sunday provided i know about sunday in advance

sundays probably make most sense if people are free, better facilities etc and daylight....

and if we want to improve we need to train once a week or twice every 3 weeks.......

this week is busy with midterms for me so i mite not make trainin if its on........

yeah i'm really busy at the mo but wed and fridays (day or evening) would suit. i wouldn't be hugely pushed about sundays just coz its the one day in the week that i really get home and sleep...but i could make a few

Div 4 Dodder Rats - two matches this Friday at 21:00 and 22:10
TRAINING (for everyone) BEFOREHAND ?

I've sent everyone a message about this on facebook, ( http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages&tid=1553256323568 (http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages&tid=1553256323568) ) Mark put a link to a timetable of when people are free to train every week, (Leighton, Eoghan, Matt, Matt and Niall please add when you're free (as far as you know- Niall's is probably different every week) ) and another link to when it gets dark. This means that starting training at 5 won't be worthwhile (lightwise) in a matter of days.

The most suitable day for training (according to the incomplete timetable) is Friday- both in the numbers of people free and the amount of free time that'll be in daylight consistently.

POINT: I propose training this Friday between 3 and 5
be there, or be rusty. :p

-> please check facebook message for relevant links and discussion.

DIV FIVE TEAM - MATCH THIS WEEK AND ON DUTY!!!

Who's going? Cos if we let them down duty-wise things will be unpleasant
(some hassle over using the boats last week, it was sorted, but we don't want to get in the bad books for real, there be psychos)

( Div 5 team = Leighton, Eoghan, Matt, Jer, Dave )

All

Due to an error on the dcpl timetable, the last game furries played against UCD won't count (3rd time you played them). It should have been played against nappies & paddles. I've scheduled this game in for 14th Jan (this friday) at 8.24. Unfortunately this is the only slot available.
