Fixing a zip
« on: March 03, 2009, 14:48:42 »
Okay the zip on my bouancy went pop over varsities and I now have the problem of where to store my every so important gear( sling, screw gate, knife and most important my camera) its is missing teeth and may need to be replaced. It is a hf serpent which are no longer made but do you think a tailor would be able to replace the zip if I poped into one? I maybe in the market to replace it as it is now three years old.

tailors can replace zips handy enough but I'd the say the challenge would be finding the right zip. a tailor can provide one for a pair of jeans or something but you need a robust zip that won't rust and will stay closed... could be hard, but if you get one, it can probably be sewn on. just make sure that you communicate to the tailor that it has to be incredibly tough so don't use normal sewing thread etc.

is the zip usually under strain from the tight fit of the BA or is that taken up by straps etc?
