S'up!!!
So off we go on another adventure!!!
This week we're off to Liffey to have some fun on the Lucan Weir!
Sign up here!!! WHEN??? Saturday, 5th of October
The plan: Meeting at the boathouse at 10!
For Freshers who have no idea where the amazing boathouse is, there'll be a committee member at the entrance to the gym at quarter to 10 to show you the way!
From the boathouse, we're going to pick out our boats, gear and load everything onto the trailer and then hop onto the bus!!
We should be home at the boathouse at around 4
What do you need?-
Warm clothes!!!! (avoid cotton at all costs! they make you very very cold when your wet!!) Anything made out of 'poly-' materials are a good bet! Fleeces are amazing!!! Fleecy pyjamas are even better! Tights make a good layer, especially to pop over your fleecy layers before trying to put on a wetsuit (even the lads should consider investing!!) If you have a wetsuit bring one
If not, the club has a small selection of them...try to get to the boathouse on time to get first pick
It is my solid belief that you can never, ever have enough layers!!!

A pair of old shoes! For this trip socks wont work...the water is going to be low, so if you come out of the boat, you'll be stepping on rocks (which is not fun in socks!) If you don't have a pair, pop into your local Penneys or Tescos and pick up a pair of cheap shoes
-
€10! This covers the cost of the bus and instructors
-
A towel and warm, dry clothes for afterwards! You'll appreciate that second jumper
-
Some hot stuff! Flasks of tea, soup, hot blackcurrant...they'll all be much appreciated on the bus home!! And chocolate bars or cereal bars!! nothing better than some sugar after a fun day on the water
(avoid things that aren't in wrappers though, cause you wont want to wait to wash your hands before eating them! )
NB!!! If you haven't yet payed your membership, you must do so before this river trip! anyone who has not payed, won't be able to join us.
NB!!! It is recommended that you try to make it to at least one pool session before this trip so we can run through some basic safety drills
If you can't make it, we can still do them at the Liffey, but it's slightly colder...
Pool sessions are on again this week as usual
Wednesday and Thursday, 9-10.30 at the UCD pool!
